Colleen
Kay Anderson, 57, Wells, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday
January 21, 2012 at her home. She was born on January 2, 1955 in
Escanaba, the daughter of Edward and Patricia (Bovin) McCarthy.
On October 8, 1977 she married John Anderson at St. Anne's Church
in Escanaba.
Colleen was very interested in crocheting and knitting. All of her
siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews are proud owners of
socks, sweaters, and other items of her handiwork. She was well
known for her ability to needle, and also teasing her family and
friends, and was an artist at doing so. Behind all of the needling
and teasing was a heart of gold, that would do anything possible
for her family and friends, who will miss her greatly.
Colleen worked most of her life beginning at the Daily Press, Montgomery
Ward, as a crossing guard for the Escanaba Public Schools and Wal-Mart.
In recent years she also adopted the Silver Winds Church as her
religious choice and found a place where she could assist in so
many ways. Colleen was a very loving wife and mother and a caring
person to her friends and family.
She is survived by her parents, her husband, her daughter: Trisha,
sister: Patricia (Thomas) Sealander, brothers: Edward (Sue) McCarthy
and Timothy (Julie) McCarthy, several nieces and nephews and other
relatives and friends.
Colleen was preceded in death by an infant daughter Shayla and her
sister Kathleen (McCarthy) Fiorillo.

2012 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba. A funeral service
will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home

R. (Shedore) McLeod, 85, Escanaba, passed away on Sunday
January 15, 2012 at the Christian Park Healthcare Center in Escanaba.
She was born on June 3, 1926 in Escanaba, the daughter of the late
Edward and Lillian (Carter) Shedore. Mildred graduated from Escanaba
Senior High School in 1945.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, five
sisters and six brothers.
Mildred's family will greet friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday
January 19, 2012 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba. Burial
will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery in the spring. |

"Bulldozer" Emil LaCount, 71, Powers passed away
on Saturday January 14, 2012 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility
with his family by his side. He was born on November 13, 1940 to
the late Percy and Alice (Peterson) LaCount in Berwyn, IL. On August
17, 1963 he married the former Donna Grienier at St. Mary's Catholic
Church in Hermansville.
George loved spending time in the outdoors, especially hunting,
fishing and making maple syrup in the spring. He enjoyed woodworking
and listening to country western music. George also played the bass
guitar in a band for over 25 years. He really loved being around
his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
George is survived by his wife of 48 years, five daughters: Jill
(Mike) Lieber, Jackie Gatien, Paula (Brett) Harter, Pam (Andy) DeBock
and Kristy Knick, three brothers: Jan, Earl (Carole) and Mike (Linda)
LaCount, one sister: Ruthie (Craig) Carriveau, eleven grandchildren
and many nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.

"Wheaties" P. Deloria, 72, Nahma, passed away
on Wednesday January 11, 2012 at Christian Park Healthcare Center
in Escanaba. He was born on September 19, 1939 to the late Antione
and Eileen (Vinette) Deloria in Nahma, MI.
Calvin is survived by one daughter: Kay Bohan, three sisters: Dorothy,
Janette and Charlene, two grandsons and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Gerald and
William and two sisters: Theresa and Georgine.
Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday January 19,
2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Garden. A Mass will
be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church with Fr. James

C. Lungerhausen, 94, Hermansville, passed away on Monday
January 2, 2012, at home after a short illness. He was born on June
1, 1917 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, the son of the late John and Florence
(Skinner) Lungerhausen. On April 25 1959, he married the former
Lorraine Schumacher Kuhnhenn, who passed away in 2006,
John attended Purdue University for a degree in Electrical Engineering
in the mid-1930s. He worked in that capacity for Blackmer Pump in
Grand Rapids, Bowser Equipment in Fort Wayne, IN, Detroit Diesel
in Detroit, Keller Tool in Grand Haven and Process Equipment in
Belding. In the mid-1950s, he and his brother, Richard Lungerhausen,
started brothers, inc., in Hermansville, manufacturer of stainless
steel liquid handling tanks. He loved working with his brother,
Rich, and his wife, Lorraine, office manager at the plant, and he
loved schmoozing with their customers all over the United States.
He was the consummate gentleman, curious about everything, and had
an incredible memory to entertain with a good story or joke. He
loved the outdoors and rocking on the back porch, Manhattan in hand,
surrounded by family and friends. In the 1990s, he introduced his
children to the joys of camping and canoeing in Michigan and rivers
and lakes in Minnesota’s Boundary Waters. He gave his family
many fine memories of those trips that will always echo in their
hearts.
John was a camper and counselor at Interlochen Music Camp in the
1930s and enjoyed attending reunions with his daughter, Emilie,
also an alumna. He was a ham radio operator for many years and loved
communicating with friends around the world.
He had good health (and all of his teeth!) until the last few years
when he had to slow down and concentrate more on the reading he
loved, especially Rudyard Kipling and John Masters.
John is survived by his children: daughters Helen (Tom) Ryan of
Ann Arbor, Rhoda (David) Banta of Reed City, Marian Burgess of Hermansville,
Jane (Roy) Moore of Copperas Cove, TX, Mary (Dick) King of Green
Bay, WI, Emilie (Jeff) La Roux of Monroe, “adopted”
daughter, Mary (Bob) Ryan of Suttons Bay, and son Oscar Carl Lungerhausen
of Hermansville. He had 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren
and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lorraine, his parents,
his stepmother, Eva Lungerhausen, brother Richard Lungerhausen and
his wife, Anne Louise Lungerhausen, brother William Lungerhausen,
son-in-law, Lyle Burgess, Jr., great-grandson Daniel Burgess, and
many of the friends he had acquired over the years.
Honoring John’s wishes, he was cremated, and with his wife
Lorraine, will be buried in Clinton Grove Cemetery in Mt. Clemens
at the Lungerhausen family plot later this year. There will be a
memorial service this summer in Hermansville. Memorial contributions

Mt. Clemens, MI 48043. |

Carrie
Marie Seely, 82, Hermansville, passed away on Sunday December
18, 2011at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers with her family
by her side. She was born on February 19, 1929 in Hermansville,
the daughter of the late Arther and Ethel (Ledger) Weaver. In August
of 1958 she married the late George Seely in Menominee, MI.
Carrie worked in housekeeping at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility
for 17 years until her retirement. She was a member of the St. Anne's
Society beginning in the 1950's and also a member of the IXL Museum.
Carrie enjoyed puzzles, playing cards, going to bingo and spending
time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her four children: Anne Marie La Cousier, Debbie
Seely, Tony Seely and Cathy (Danny) Galindo, nine grandchildren:
Steve La Cousier, Cindy (Ted) Hanchek, Darla (Mike) Willa, Brad
(Rachel) Girardi, Janelle (Dave) Pawling, Chelsi Peterson, Zac Peterson,
Logon Galindo and Morgan Galindo, eight great-grandchildren: Sami
(Kirk) Flescher, Kalee La Cousier, Shea La Cousier, Kacie Hanchek,
Dyllion Hanchek, Brandon Willa, Allissa Willa and Cody Pawling,
as well as nieces and nephews.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three
brothers: Howard, Bill and John Weaver and one sister: Gwen St.
John.

"Morty" A. Mortensen, 27, Escanaba, passed away
on Friday December 16, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital after years
of battling multiple illnesses. He was born on July 3, 1984 in Escanaba,
the son of Jack and Faye (Nelson) Mortensen.
Eric was a member of the Stump Jumpers and always looked forward
to working at the Bark River off road races every year. He also
loved working on his car stereos, which he has won different awards
for, and going to concerts with his friends. Eric was a cook at
the Swedish Pantry restaurant for the past 2 years.
He is survived by his parents, one sister: Natalie (fiancé:
Brian Bonno) Mortensen, paternal grandmother: Ruth Mortensen, two
uncles: Frank Nelson and Allen (Jeanne) Nelson as well as numerous
cousins and friends.
Eric was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Eunice
and Frank Nelson Sr., paternal grandfather: Bruce Mortensen and
one uncle: Michael Nelson.

"Russ" H. Willyard, 83, Brampton, passed away
on Tuesday December 13, 2011 at the Zablocki V.A. Medical Center
in Milwaukee, WI. He was born on January 30, 1928 in Steele, ND,
the son of the late Howard and Myrtle (Smith) Willyard. On September
5, 1953 he married the late and former Jeannine Dahn.
Russ and Jeannine moved to Escanaba in 1959 when he began his career
as a machinist at the Escanaba Machine Co. until his retirement.
He served his country in the U.S. Army for seven years during WWII
and the Korean War. Russ was with the 6th Armored Division and served
as a Demolition Spec in the 52nd Engineer Battalion. He was awarded
the European Theatre Operation Ribbon with three Bronze Stars.
Russ was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America since 1961 serving
as Cub Master for 14 years, and awarded the "District award
of Merit", the Girl Scouts of America for 17 years, the Moose
Lodge, the AMVETS and the Delta County Chapter for Retarded Citizens.
He was survived by his three children: Howard (Betty) Willyard,
Alice Willyard and Patty Willyard, one brother: Albert (Carol) Willyard,
three sisters: Marjorie Gray, Ruth (George) Swanson and Lois (Tony)
Ryan, two grandchildren: Robert and Joanne, six great-grandchildren:
Robert-Allen, Maykayla, Seanaustin, Lyla, Brady and Bryce as well
as several nieces and nephews.
Russ was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son: Dwayne
and one brother: Charles Willyard.

"Little Maggie" T. Grondine, 61, Spalding, passed
away of natural causes on Tuesday December 6, 2011 at Dickinson
County Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 9, 1950 in Daggett,
MI, the son of the late Wilfred "Maggie" and Gladys (Lundquist)
Grondine Jr.
After Jerry graduated from high school, he worked with his father
at the family business, The Grondine Body and Repair Shop. His favorite
past time was playing the guitar and singing with the Mustang and
North Country band. He continued the tradition and played in a local
band every spring for the annual Spring Fling at Labelle's. Jerry
also loved to hunt deer and be with his friends at the Hafeman camp.
During the latest years, he enjoyed spending time at his father's
shop.
Jerry is survived by his four children: Michael (Klara) Grondine,
Michelle (Rob) Sundquist, Curtis (Katherine) Grondine and Christopher
(Cassandra) Grondine, one sister: Phyllis King, two brothers: James
(Nancy) Grondine and John (Sue) Grondine, six grandchildren: Cherish,
Brandon, Brice, Ryder, Gracey and Carter as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and will be missed by many
others.

"Bob" R. Simonson, 66, Gladstone, passed away
on Monday November 28, 2011 at Marquette General Hospital due to
an apparent heart attack. Bob was born on June 15, 1945 in Calumet,
MI, the son of the late Oliver and Mildred (Sorensen) Simonson.
On December 10, 1999 he married the former Penny Schroeder in Rapid
River.
Bob enjoyed being in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing,
but most recently he enjoyed spending time with the guys at his
son-in-law's atv shop. He also enjoyed reading western pocket books.
Most important to Bob, and his greatest love of all, was spending
time with all his grandchildren
Bob is survived by his wife, three children: Brenda (Jeff) Johnson,
David Simonson and Dale (Marcie) Simonson, three step-children:
Tom (Jenna) Dennings, Robin (Aaron) Popour and Matt (Samantha) Dennings,
two sisters: Nadine (Ron) Hoffman and Susie, fourteen grandchildren
and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife: Janet Person
and his beloved dog: Dora.

"Onie" R. St.Vincent, 95, Escanaba, passed away
on Saturday November 19, 2011 at her home with her daughters by
her side. She was born on April 3, 1916 in Hardwood, MI, the daughter
of the late Richard and Eva (Robinette) Barcome. In 1934 she married
the late Raymond St.Vincent in Iron Mountain, MI.
Leona lived most of her life in Escanaba. She owned and operated
the Manor Motel for over 45 years and was a member of St. Thomas
the Apostle Church.
Leona is survived by her two daughters: Janice Thennes and Alana
Taft, four sisters: Geneva Mongrain, Patricia Dixon, Peggy (Ed)
Swartz and Janet (Al) Ambrosia, one brother: Basil (Zella) Barcome,
one daughter-in-law: Peggy St.Vincent, nine grandchildren, seventeen
great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son:
Raymond St.Vincent Jr. , one sister: Elaine McCabe, one granddaughter:
Connie Trottier and two great-grandchildren: Ciara Trottier and
James Thomma.

"Mort" W. Oja, 69, Hermansville, passed away
on Sunday November 13, 2011 at his home. He was born on June 20,
1942 in Houghton, MI, the son of the late Matti and Lyyli (Pulki)
Oja. On January 19, 1962 he married the former Marie Bispala in
Hibbing, MN.
Mr. Oja was a 4th grade school teacher until his retirement, which
he was always passionate about. One of Mort's many talents was being
able to recite almost all sports players statistics, as he loved
all sports, especially listening to different school sports and
the Detroit Tigers on the radio. Mort also loved eating hamburgers
and spending time with his grandchildren at his family cottage in
Chassell, MI.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, five children: Joan
Oja of Hermansville, MI, Timothy (Nicole) Oja of Hermansville, MI,
Michael (Christy) Oja of Apple Valley, MN, Daniel (Valerie) Oja
of Superior, WI and Cheryl (Raymond) Hansen of Rogers City, MI,
three sisters: Eleanor (Robert) Cocozella of Sedona, AZ, Helen (Paul)
Anderson of Atlantic Mine, MI and Alyce (Clyde) Elmblad of Chassell,
MI, ten grandchildren: Spencer, Chandler, Miranda, Dylan, Wyatt,
Nina, Olivia, Matthew, Violet and Breanna as well as numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Mort was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Ralph,
Robert, Reuben and Rudi Oja.

"Vida" E. Grienier, 95, Hermansville, passed
away on Thursday November 3, 2011 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility
in Powers with her family by her side. She was born on July 25,
1916 in Spalding, the daughter of the late William and Laura (Bushey)
Perket.
Vida enjoyed gardening in her flower garden, sewing, crocheting,
and baking cakes for friends and family.
She is survived by three daughters: Charlene Denzine, Donna (George)
La Count and Marlys (Greg) Poupore, one son: Dennis Grienier, two
brothers: Wesley Perket and Wally (Carol) Perket, one sister: Dorothy
St. Julianna, twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren
and many nieces and nephews.
Vida was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandson:
Daniel Wendt, one brother: Ruben Perket and three sisters: Donna
Haag, Vivian Perket and Marcela Schoen.

Richard
G. Bruce, 76, of Woodruff, WI, formerly of Powers, passed
away suddenly at his home on September 27, 2011. He was born in
Bark River on May 25th, 1935 and attended school in Harris and went
to high school in Powers. He moved to Brookfield, Illinois in 1954
and married the former Alice Price on October 22, 1955. He was employed
at Countries Delight Dairy for 11 years. He then moved on joining
the Will County Carpenters Union Local 174 in Joliet, Ill. A few
years later Richard joined the Chicago Carpenters Union that merged
with the Chicago Carpenter Union that merged with the Chicago Millwrights
Union Local 1693. He continued there as a millwright until he retired
in 1999 and moved to Woodruff, WI.
He is survived by eight children: Deborah Smith of Oak Lawn, IL,
Mark Bruce of Burbank, Il, Ann (David) McNamara of Crete, IL, Vicki
(Guy) Mitchell of Oak Lawn, Il, Alan Bruce of Worth, IL, Curtis
(Tammy) Bruce of Earlville, IL, David Bruce of Oak Lawn, IL and
Bradley (Rebecca) Bruce of Oak lawn, IL, sister: Audrey LeBoeuf,
Jansky of Florence, WI, 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren
residing in Illinois.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Percy and Hilda Bruce,
and brother and sister-in-law David and Delores Bruce and brothers-in-law
Bernard LeBoeuf and Frederick Jansky.
His family will gather to meet friends from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m.
(CST) on Monday October 17, 2011 at his grave in the Spalding Township
Cemetery. A committal service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor
Christine Bergquist presiding.

Dorothy
V. Janke, 83, Powers, went to eternal peace with her Lord
and savior Jesus Christ on Monday October 10, 2011. She was born
on February 14, 1928 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of the late
Emil and Marjorie Schmidt. On November 7, 1943 she married the late
August G. Janke in Milwaukee. In 1950 they moved to the Escanaba
area and built their house on the beach in Ford River and later
in 1970 they moved to their farm in Powers.
Dorothy was raised in Milwaukee and attended the Milwaukee Art Institute
and Layton School of Art throughout high school and later attended
the Chicago Art Institute. She was an accomplished artist with many
famous works including a portrait of Bishop Salatka, which is on
display in the Adoration Chapel in the St. Peter's Cathedral in
Marquette and also the labels and designs for the Ely's Potato Chip
Co., Northland Groceries, Red Owl, Super Value, Piggly Wiggly, A
& P, the Mighty Deer Lick, Inc., Morton Salt and many more beautiful
works of art. She also operated a large poultry farm, a Christmas
tree plantation and was the secretary & treasurer for the Mighty
Deer Lick, Inc.
She was a wonderful, loving and caring mother and grandmother. Dorothy
enjoyed cooking, baking, family parties, gardening, animals and
wildlife. She was a devout Catholic and Eucharistic Minister with
her husband: August in the Pinecrest Ministry of St. John Neumann
Parish in Spalding.
Dorothy is survived by her five children: August A. (Corrine) Janke
of Flint, MI, Catherine (Eric) Treichel of Carney, Ted (Susan) Janke
of Powers, Steven Janke of Powers and Dotty (Gale) LaJoye of Marquette,
grandchildren: Kristine Stefanko, August Janke IV, Tonya Albers,
Tina Treichel, Douglas Lewis and Danielle Lewis and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son: Christopher
and her only sibling: Marjorie Ruth Tecsh.

October 12, 2011 at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding. A Mass

R. Denome, 70, Escanaba, passed away peacefully at home
with his family by his side on Sunday September 25, 2011. He was
born on August 12, 1941 in Casper, WY and raised by the late Francis
and Doris (LaCosse) Denome. On February 23, 1980, he married the
former Charlene Winters in Escanaba.
Paul worked at Bark River Culvert until his retirement in 2001 and
prior to that he was a crane operating engineer. He was also a cook
in the National Guard. Paul enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers

motorcycling and flying, but most of all he loved spending time
with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, seven children: Debbie Denome, Jesse
(Jodi) Denome, David (Tammy) Lesnieski, Scott (Traci) Denome, Brian
(Leah) Lesnieski, Theresa Lesnieski and Tricia (Steve) Johnson,
fourteen grandchildren: Jonathan, Bradley, Ashley, Arielle, Aaron,
Kristian, Jacob, Noah, Zach, Trevor, Sadie, Lydia, Blake and Allison,
two great-grandchildren: Luella and Kylee, brothers-in-law: Ken
(Jean) Winters and Ron Winters, sisters-in-law: Jennie (Harold)
Strasler and Joann (Bob) Anderson, his special companion pet: Mollie
as well as nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and an aunt: Clarissa

Marie Bray
On September 24th, 2011, the gates of Heaven were opened for the
arrival of a special angel, Jeanne Marie Bray.
Jeanne was born in Escanaba on March 1, 1954 to Hubert “Swede”
and Helenjoy “Honey” (Derwin) Boudreau. She attended
Holy Name High School until its closure, and graduated from Escanaba
High School in 1972, after which she attended Bay De Noc Community
College. She married Michael J. Bray, son of the late Kenneth and
Joanne Bray, at St. Anne’s Church in Escanaba on June 28,
1975. Following their marriage, Jeanne and Michael travelled extensively
and enjoyed living in various locations along the west coast while
Michael was a member of the U.S. Navy. They eventually returned
to and made their home in Escanaba.
Jeanne was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who led by example,
always putting everyone else’s needs ahead of her own. She
was a life-long member of St. Anne’s Parish Church and was
involved in several ministries. She was a former CCD catechist,
a member of the Resurrection Singers, Altreya, the Blue Army of
Our Lady of Fatima, and volunteered for various church-related events
and fund raisers such as the St. Anne’s Annual Picnic. Jeanne
worked with the St. Vincent DePaul Society for several years. She
managed the St. Vincent DePaul Store in Escanaba for the past 2
years and during that time she touched the lives of countless numbers
of people who came to St. Vincent’s for guidance, aid, and
simple conversation. Her generosity and selflessness touched the
lives of everyone she came into contact with.
Jeanne is survived by her husband Michael, children Michael (Kelly)
Bray II of Oxford, MI, Peter (Stephanie) Bray of Marquette, MI,
Timothy Bray of Escanaba and Anne Bray of Rapid River, MI; two grandchildren:
Madeline and Allison Bray of Oxford, MI; mother Helenjoy Boudreau
DeLaire and step-father James DeLaire, both of Escanaba; brothers
and sisters Darlene (Bob) Closs of Payson, AZ, Gary (Mary) Boudreau

R. Gribble, 96, Hermansville, passed away on Monday September
19, 2011 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers. She was born
July 4, 1915 in Gladstone, MI, the daughter of the late Wilfred
and Fern (Butler) Bezner. On July 21, 1940 she married the late
James Gribble in Gladstone.
Wave was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hermansville,
past president and treasurer of the United Methodist Women, a charter
member of Men-O-Mee and a member of the Pythian Sisters. She also
enjoyed playing cards, playing bingo, bowling, shopping, traveling
and going out to eat.
Wave is survived by two daughters: Janet (Frank) Ducat and Barbara
(Clancy) Kell, eleven grandchildren: Suzanne, Sharon, Sandi, Steven,
Patricia, Karen, George, Gerald, Kathy, Chris and Peter, seven great-grandchildren:
John, Maddy, Katelyn, Oliver, Seamus, Kirsten and Megan as well
as nieces and nephews.

on Tuesday September 13, 2011 at his home. He was born on October
27, 1950 to Margaret (Schneider) Jennings and the late Ronald Jennings
Sr. in Detroit, MI.
Bob loved watching all Detroit sport Teams, riding his Harley Davidson
motorcycle and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his mother, two sons: Ian (Katie) Jennings and

Merry
Carol (Rose) Brower, 68, Escanaba, went to the Lord Saturday
September 10, 2011 after battling a lengthy illness. Merry was born
on December 25, 1942 in Gladstone, the daughter of the late Martin
and Dorothy (Bergeon) Rose.
She graduated from Holy Name High School and then attended Bay De
Noc College before working various jobs to make ends meet. Merry
was an avid Detroit sports fan, especially the Lions. She also enjoyed
playing cribbage, tending her flower and vegetable gardens, but
will be remembered most for her cooking, especially her pasties.
Merry was a very unique person with a very big beautiful heart and
was also a very devoted catholic and active member of St. Thomas
the Apostle Church.
She is survived by her daughter: Lisa (Rick) Benoit, her son: Todd
(Karin) Brower, sisters: Barbara (Tom) Swift and Sharon (Dale) Villeneuve,
grandsons: Ricky and Nicholas Benoit and Terry Brower as well as
several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends in her
life.

and one brother: Joey.

"Jay" E. J. Maunus Sr., 68, Powers, passed away
on Friday September 2, 2011 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in
Powers. He was born on August 31, 1943 to the late Steve and Helen
(Setula) Maunus in Longview, WA. On October 2, 1970 he married the
former Eva Barker in Vancouver, WA and she survives him.
Jay is survived by his wife, two sons: Jaydull (Liz) Maunus Jr.
and Eric (Sharon) Maunus, one sister: Erlamae Hardwick, three grandchildren
and nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
Honoring Jaydull's wishes, he will be cremated and his family will

"Chum" H. Couchene, 82, Escanaba (Danforth area),
passed away on Thursday August 25, 2011 at Sunny View AFC where
he was cared for by Julie and Gary Sexton for over 2 years. He was
born on September 7, 1928 to the late Joseph and Rose (Thomma) Couchene
in Kingsford, MI. On September 8, 1947 he married the former and
late Doreen Goertzen at St. Joseph's Parish in Escanaba.
After serving his country in the U.S. Navy, Chum began his employment
at the Mead Paper Mill, for over 40 years, until his retirement.
He enjoyed deer hunting and many other outdoor activities.
Chum is survived by his three daughters: Sally Couchene, Judy Plutchak
and Tracy (Gary) Branz, five grandchildren: Nichol, Eric, Bryan,
Ellen and Sarah, five great-grandchildren: Henry, Sophia, Evalyn,
Elliot and Zachary as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers:
Ben and Kenny Couchene and one sister: Janet Couchene.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday August
30, 2011 at Gardens of Rest Cemetery with Fr. Jose Maramattam presiding.

"Pat" Suriano of Escanaba, Michigan died on Sunday,
July 31, 2011at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba of complications
arising from a colonoscopy at Marquette General Hospital. Pat was
married to Pellegrino "Bill" Suriano for 45 years. Together
they raised 4 children: June Kennedy-Fiebig (Earl Fiebig) of Brimley,
Michigan: William "Bill" Suriano (Dawneen Ferguson) of
Riverside, Illinois; Janet Suriano-Taylor (Tom Taylor) of Okemos,
Michigan; and, Thomas "Tom" Suriano (Cheryl Rowley) of
Gladstone, Michigan. She was also the grandmother of 16 and the
great-grandmother of 7.
Pat was born in Rudyard, Michigan, the daughter of the late Edward
and Clarice (Wills) Jarvie, but spent most of her adult life in
Escanaba. She attended Northern Michigan University which led to
a career as an educator. She taught second grade at St. Anne's Catholic
Church in Escanaba, directed the religious education program there
and was a teacher's aide for special needs children in several Escanaba
schools for over 20 years before her retirement. She and her husband
enjoyed traveling together and loved spending days together on the
beach. Pat was an active member of St. Anne's church.
More than anything else, Pat cared about people. She was deeply
involved with her children and grandchildren, went daily to visit
friends and to serve at Christian Park Village. Her life was a service
and blessing to her children, relatives and friends. She will be
deeply missed.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister:

Lee Savord, 70, Hermansville, passed away on Monday July
25, 2011 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers. He was born
on December 11, 1940 to the late William and Rose (Fabry) Savord
in Hermansville.
Gary had worked at the Fox Farm in Hermansville and then went into
the construction laborers union 1329 and worked in the construction
field for over 30 years before his retirement. He loved being in
the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Gary also enjoyed
cooking, going for rides and collecting things.
He is survived by his two children: Debra (Norm) Royston of Escanaba
and Steve Savord of De Pere, WI, one brother: Lawrence (Martha)
Savord of Hermansville, two sisters: Betty (Roger) Whitens of Hermansville
and Rose (Brian) Cowles of Battle Creek, MI as well as nieces and
nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Wesley
and Howard Savord.

"Bea" Wheeler, 90, Powers, passed away on Sunday
July 24, 2011 at her home in Powers surrounded by her loving daughters.
She was born on September 26, 1920 to the late Julius and Mary (Guay)
Borden in Wilson, MI. On December 1, 1945 she married the late Bill
Wheeler at St. Francis Xavier Church in Spalding.
When Bea was in her early twenties, she moved to Milwaukee, WI and
worked for Evinrude Motors until the end of WWII. At the end of
the war, her and Bill where married and raised their family in the
Powers area. Bea took a lot of pride in her work as a cook at The
Big R Cafe where she retired from after many years. She also loved
cooking for her neighbors when they needed help at times. Bea enjoyed
traveling with her husband during their retirement and crocheting
and was also a very active member at St. John Neumann Church and
the St. Anne's Society.
She is survived by her three daughters: Darlene (Jerry) Vandermissen,
Mary Width and Patricia (Roger Skufca) Wheeler, six grandchildren:
Greg, Rebecca, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Jennifer and Jessica, fifteen
great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bea was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandson:
Jerry Vandermissen, three brothers: Ervie, Roy and Vern Borden and
two sisters: Lena Dubord and Grace Draze.

"Farmer" J. Nowack Sr., 96, Spalding, passed
away on Thursday July 14, 2011 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility
in Powers following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on
April 21, 1915 to the late Franklin and Magdalen (Safranak) Nowack
in Spalding. On August 20, 1936 he married the former and late Amy
Fezatte at St. Francis Xavier Church in Spalding.
Farmer was employed by the Powers Spalding/North Central Schools
as supervisor of custodial staff and bus driver for 44 years. He
was an avid woodworker and gardener and also enjoyed everything
to do with the outdoors including hunting, fishing and going to
camp. Farmer was a founding member of Normenco Sportsman's Club
and the Spalding Township Fire Department where he was an active
member from 1956 to 2010. He was also a member of the Powers Spalding
Lions Club. Farmer was still making maple syrup each spring until
the age of 93.
He is survived by his three sons: Joe (Diane) Nowack of Spalding,
Gerald (Jeanette) Nowack of Powers and James (Connie) Nowack of
Spalding, eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren,
six great great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
Farmer was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two daughters:
Judy Bellefeuil and Jeane Weber, one infant son: John and two grandchildren:
Jon and Jennifer.

L. Schmidt III, 93, Escanaba, died Saturday June 25, 2011.
He was born on November 23, 1917 in Escanaba, the son of the late
Charles and Clara (Sillers) Schmidt II. On October 7, 1947 he married
the late and former Betty Liedl at St. Stephens Episcopal Church
in Escanaba.
He was a 1935 graduate of Escanaba High School and attended Northern
Michigan University after serving in the U.S. Army during WWII.
In 1946 Charles began working for the city of Escanaba and retired
as the City Assessor in 1980.
Charles is survived by one son: Charles (Toni Lori) Schmidt IV of
Spread Eagle, WI, three daughters: Ann (James) Kurtz of Rancho Cordova,
CA, Jane Schmidt of Ft. Collins, CO and Mary (Daniel) Breitzman
of New London, WI, eleven grandchildren: Charles and Todd Schmidt,
Jeffrey, Susan and Eric Kurtz, Ehrin, Mica and Kiley Graim, Jeremy,
Clint and Troy Breitzman as well as great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters:

Rose (Elie) Ramsey, 68, of 121 South Waverly Rd. #209,
Holland MI, passed away Friday morning June 17, 2011 at Hospice
House of Holland after battling cancer surrounded by her loving
family. Her courage and strength throughout this journey will guide
and shape our family for years to come.
Mary Rose was born February 21, 1943 in Escanaba, the daughter of
Lawrence and Evelyn (Bellefeuille-LaFleur) Elie. She attended Holy
Name High School in Escanaba and participated in the winter Ice
Follies show which was an annual event at the Ruth Butler building
at the fairgrounds. She was a member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic
Church in Holland and worked for United Automotive Technologies,
formerly known as Northern Fiber for 23 years.
Mary Rose was the loving mother of four surviving children: Rick
Granskog of Holland, Katherine Granskog of Holland, Renee George
of Allegan and John (Julie) Mokma of Holland. She is further survived
by her mother: Evelyn Elie of Escanaba, eleven grandchildren, five
great-grandchildren, one brother: Lawrence (Victoria) Elie II of
Escanaba as well as five nephews and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father, an infant daughter: Carrie
Lynn Granskog in 1961, one brother: John Wayne Elie on December
15, 2010, great-grandson: Tyler David George and an infant brother.
Honoring Mary Rose Ramsey's wishes, she was cremated and her cremains
were buried near her daughter in Pilgrim Cemetery on the North side
of 370 East 16th St., Holland, MI on Tuesday June 21, 2011. |

He was born on January 10, 1962 to Vernon Miron and Sabina "Bonnie"

"Wallie" Ray Petersen, 83, Powers, passed away
on Monday June 6, 2011 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility. He was
born on February 13, 1928 in Spalding on his family's farm to Ray
and Casimere (Pongelak) Petersen. Wallie graduated from Powers Spalding
H.S. in 1945 and studied at Michigan Tech and Michigan State.
He worked for Michigan Department of Transportation from 1955 until
his retirement in 1990. He worked all across the U.P. starting his
career and family in Munising and worked on many highway and bridge
projects including the Mackinac bridge in the 1950s. He also logged
more than 250,000 miles on the job from 1973-1980.
Wallie also found time in the evening with the help of his two sons,
to sell and repair lawnmowers, tillers, chainsaws, snowmobiles,
and was an authorized Ariens and Jonsered's dealer. He was elected
to the Powers-Spalding school board in 1964 and remained on the
board until 1987 serving as President, Vice President and Secretary.
He was proud to present each of his children their high school diplomas
during his tenure on the school board. He joined the Powers- Spalding
Fire Department in 1959, becoming an honorary member in 1984; was
a member of Powers-Spalding Lions Club and a member of UTEA, serving
as Vice President of Chapter 2. He was a member of Grace Evangelical
Lutheran Church, the Super Yoopers, Superior Sams RV clubs, SERA
and was a bowler.
He married the former Anne T. Cass on June 18, 1955 at St. Joseph's
Parish in Escanaba and together raised seven children. Wallie enjoyed
reading, bowling, woodworking, camping, traveling throughout the
U.S. and spending many winters in Arizona, Texas and Florida. He
also fulfilled a lifetime dream of becoming a pilot at the age of
55 and flew as far as New York.
Wallie will be fondly remembered for his quiet wisdom and caring
ways. Family was very important to him as he looked after his parents
and aunts who lived to be centenarians and also raised his children
to value an education. He was always there for his children and
their families.
He is survived by his wife, five daughters: Pattie (Don) Heilala
of Iron Mountain, Beth (Brian) Waitrovich of Kingsford, Susan (Mark)
Lemke of New Franken, Ruth (Terry) Szapa of Green Bay and Anne (Jeff)
Heino of Florence, two sons: Mark (Denice) Petersen of Menominee
and Nick (Amy Petersen of Wilson, eighteen grandchildren: Andy,
Adam and Alex Heilala, Jon and Ben Vish, Tom Waitrovich, Greg (Heather)

"Ed" A. Bouty, 87, Spalding, passed away peacefully
on Sunday June 5, 2011 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
He was born on November 16, 1923 to the late Alexander and Emma
(Gunville) Bouty in Spalding. On April 17, 1947 he married the former
June D. Bellefeuil at St. Francis Xavier Church in Spalding.
After graduating from high school when Ed was 18, he was drafted
into the U.S. Army and later served overseas for 18 months with
the 8th Air Force during WWII. Ed was one of the original men to
help in the organization of the Spalding Twp. Fire Department, and
he became one of the first members. He was also a member of the
American Legion Post # 244 for 66 years, the 40 ET 8 for 50 years
and the Lions Club. He spent 40 years as a gas delivery man and
was always busy volunteering his time and doing charitable work
in the area.
Ed also loved being in the woods, playing cards , spending time
with his family and cookouts.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, five children: Jim (Sandi)
Bouty, Richard (Paula) Bouty, Mary (friend: Larry Bates) Bouty,
Mike (Pam) Bouty and Cindy (Tim) Meiner, one sister: Helen Weissert,
nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren as well as several
nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Thomas Bouty,
one daughter: Janet Robinson and two sisters: Evelyn Cory and Betty
Sommers.

Roy
J. Nadon, 94, Flat Rock, passed away on Tuesday May 31,
2011 at his home in Escanaba. He was born on January 6, 1917 to
the late Patrick and Mary (Toupin) Nadon in Escanaba. On October
12, 1940 he married the late and former Ann Roberts.
Roy earned his school letter playing baseball at Cooley High School
in Detroit, even despite losing his arm in an accident at the age
of six. Later he and his wife moved to Escanaba where they started
a window frame business called Delta Frame Co. in Flat Rock. Roy
and Ann worked side by side and together made their business successful.
He was very active in the Flat Rock community and enjoyed coaching
and sponsoring baseball teams for 10 to 12 year olds. Baseball was
his favorite sport and he was one of the biggest Detroit Tigers
fans. Roy was an avid deer hunter until he was in his late 80's
and had quite a few stories to tell. He was also an active member
of the Holy Family Church in Flat Rock where he belonged to the
men's club and ushered during Masses. He found great enjoyment in
helping children through the St. Jude's Foundation.
Roy's family and friends were very important to him and he will
be remembered for his quick wit, "that smile", his strength
and determination and how he lived life to its fullest.
He is survived by one sister: Eileen Menard of Detroit, one brother:
Norman (Pat) Nadon of Albuquerque, NM, a great friend of many years:
Carl "Buzz" Sylvester as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother:
Patrick and one sister: Theresa.

Dorothy
E. (Loritz) Deno, 84, Flat Rock area, passed away on Friday
May 27, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital with her loving family by her
side. She was born on April 8, 1927 in Escanaba, the daughter of
the late John and Vetha (Gelina) Loritz. On May 18, 1946 she married
the late Lawrence Deno at St. Joseph's Church in Escanaba.
Lawrence and Dorothy made their home in the Flat Rock area where
they raised their family. She worked many different jobs throughout
her life, but is most remembered as a very loving and selfless person
to all who knew her, especially to her family, a devoted homemaker
that always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. She
also enjoyed, wintering in Tucson, AZ, going camping, going to the
casino, hosting family gatherings, and watching the wildlife in
her yard and apple orchard. Most important to Dorothy was spending
time with her family which she cherished very much. She was also
a member of the VFW.
Dorothy is survived by her seven children: Larry (Dorene) Deno of
Escanaba (Danforth area), Duane (Diana) Deno of Escanaba (Bay View
area), Linda (Randy) Kubsh of Green Bay, WI, Tom (Carrie Deno of
Escanaba (Danforth area), Glen (Joan) Deno of Manitowoc, WI, Bruce
(Donna) Deno of Flat Rock and Jim (special friend: Peggy Thompson)
Deno of Escanaba (Bay View area), one sister: Ethelgine (Jack) Way
of Wells, thirteen grandchildren: Shawn, Sheila, Kevin, Brandi,
Brandon, Kelli, Jason, David, Justin, Chad, Brad, Chloe and L.J.,
eight great-grandchildren: Zachary, Jayme, Andrea, Faith, Remington,
Devon, Andrew and Noah, a daughter-in-law: Debbie Deno, a special
niece: Connie Christiansen, a special and loving pet: Deo as well
as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother:

C. Schram, 98, Ann Arbor, formerly of Escanaba, passed
away peacefully on March 21, 2011 at Glacier Hills Retirement Community
in Ann Arbor, MI. She was born on March 13, 1913 in Escanaba, the
daughter of the late Elmer and Rose (Vachon) Stacey. On April 17,
1951 she married the late Chester Schram.
Fern spent her working career as a nurse, retiring at the age of
72 while working for Dr. Bill Lemire. She greatly enjoyed being
a volunteer at the V.A. Hospital in Ann Arbor and also loved playing
Bridge, which she did until the age of 95.
Fern is survived by her daughter: Mary Gail (Ralph) Blasier, two
brothers: Dan (Marilyn) Stacey and Elmer (Linnea) Stacey, two grandsons:
Kevin and Nathan Gauss as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters:
Mae Brazeau and Mildred Treanor and one brother: Bob Stacey.

Mae Marcus, 75, Escanaba, formerly or Marinette, WI, passed
away Sunday May 22, 2011 at Christian Park Village in Escanaba with
her daughters by her side. She was born on October 3, 1935 in Marinette,
WI, the daughter of the late John and Cecilia (Derusha) Pearson.
On November 7, 1953 she married the late James Marcus in Port Washington,
WI.
Gladys had resided in Sheboygan, WI for many years where she raised
her family. After moving to Escanaba, she became an active member
of the Escanaba Church of Christ where she was involved in many
different church activities. She was also an active member of the
Sault Ste Marie tribe of Chippewa Indians. Among her many past times,
Gladys loved cooking, doing crafts and most of all, spending time
with her family, especially the "love of her life", her
grandchildren.
Gladys is survived by five children: Richard (Jacoba) Marcus, Elaine
Bye, James Marcus, Jamie (Mark) Lesczykowski and Cindy (Michael)
Hurthibise, one brother: Franklin (Marlene) Biernet, seventeen grandchildren,
nine great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law and good friend: Charlotte
Miller as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter: Carol Marcus,
two brothers and one sister.

"Jim" F. Moore, 61, Escanaba, passed away on
Tuesday May 3, 2011 at home following a brief illness. He was born
on May 17, 1949 to the late Wilmer and Kathleen (Reagan) Moore in
Wyandotte, MI. On August 20, 2005 he married Jean Foerster in Wasilla,
AK.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, four children: Kathleen "Kate"
and Megan Moore and John (Twyla) and Alexander Foerster, two sisters:
Joanne Petri and Kathleen Puchala, two grandchildren: Calvin Sirrine
and Evelyn Moore, as well as nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
Honoring Jim Moore's wishes, he has been cremated and his family

"Sandi" Marie McDonough, 53, Escanaba, passed
away Wednesday April 27, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving
family. She was born on August 16, 1957 to the late Elmer and Margaret
(Nelson) Martinson in Escanaba. On January 31, 1998 she married
Robert "Bob" McDonough in Escanaba.
Sandi loved life to its fullest. She enjoyed working in her garden,
spending time with her beloved cats and always cherished her time
spent at Elmers Restaurant and being around people where she worked
for 14 years. Sandi was also known for her excellent cooking and
baking.
She is survived by her husband: Robert McDonough, two sons: Nathaniel
Erickson and Robert (Dawn) Erickson, one step-daughter: Michelle
(John) Romig IV, two brothers: Elmer (Christine) Martinson and Gary
(Betty) Martinson, three grandchildren: Noah Erickson and Megan
and John Romig V, as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and
many special friends.
Sandi was preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law: Leona
McDonough and her cousin: Patty Boudreau.

"Don" S. LeBoeuf, 76, Powers, passed away on
Thursday April 21, 2011 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
He was born on October 30, 1934 and resided his entire life in Powers,
the son of the late Alfred and Helen (Pongalek) LeBoeuf. On August
13, 1955 he married the former Eleanor Meiner and they celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary in 2005.
In 1979 he built Cedar River Lumber and in 1980 started Cedar River
Truck Co. Then in 1987 purchased the former Pine Timber Co. and
created Cedar Bend Lumber. In 1996 he purchased Gilbert & Bennett
treating plant in Nadeau and that became Great Lakes Wood Preservers.
He was President and CEO of all four companies and spent many long
hours taking care of his businesses.
Don and Eleanor enjoyed snowmobiling and four wheeling. He also
loved going to his camp for deer season, watching Packer games,
and looked forward to the 4th of July every year and helped chair
the event for the Lions Club. One of his favorite things to do was
hop on his grader or any of his equipment and just work or "play"
as he called it.
Don served on North Central School board from 1973 to 1981. He was
a P. S. Lions Club Member for 43 years, serving as President and
Secretary. Don was a volunteer for 23 years on the P.S. Fire Dept.
and is still an honorary member. He was President of Timber Producers
Association of WI and MI from 1992 to 1994. He was also active in
the logging congress and instrumental in helping build a new office
for the WI and MI Timber Producers Association in Rhinelander. Don
was named honorary "citizen of the year" for the P.S.
Lions Club in 1974 and received the Bud Webber award for outstanding
service and promoting Lionism in 1999. He also received recognition
from the American Legion Post #244 for outstanding and dedicated
service to the community. In 2003 he received the National Leadership
Award and Businessman of the year award. Don was also member of
the Normenco Sportsman Club and of St. John Neumann Church. He volunteered
many hours and equipment to the community and helped start the Revolving
Loan Fund for Spalding Township, which helped many businesses get
started.
Don is survived by his wife, his three children: David (Mary) LeBoeuf,
Cathy (Frank) Phelps and Greg (Brenda) LeBoeuf, two brothers: Jerry
(Julanne) LeBoeuf and Lionel (Nancy) LeBoeuf, four grandsons: Brian,
Christopher (Amanda) and Zackery LeBoeuf and Levi Danielson, three
step-grandchildren, an "Adopted" son: Bob Clemo, brothers
and sisters-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Jeff LeBoeuf,
one brother: Bernard LeBoeuf and by his brothers and sisters-in-law.

Irene
M. DeShambo, 93, Escanaba, passed away peacefully in her
sleep on Tuesday April 19, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital. She was
born on February 20, 1918 in Wells to the late Exilda (Guilbault)
and Fred Gardner. She attended school in Wells. Irene was united
in marriage to Earl DeShambo (the love of her life) in 1933 at St.
Patrick’s Catholic Church.
The couple lived in Arnold, Gwinn, and Escanaba prior to building
their home in Gross where they resided throughout their 64 years
of marriage. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1997. For the past
5 years Irene resided in an apartment at the Bishop Noa home.
Irene is survived by her only child, Joan (Clifford) Mattson of
Escanaba; one grandson, Rory (Diane) Mattson of Escanaba; two granddaughters,
Jodi (Tim) Turek of Sugar Grove, IL, Traci (Rob) Rosenbaum of Hanover,
NH; five great grandchildren, Krista Mattson of Mesa, AZ, Jacob,
Mattson, and Hazel Rosenbaum, and Clark Turek; one great-great grandchild
Caydon Mattson; many nieces and nephews including her special chums
Jacob, Johnny, and Casey.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 4 sisters
and 8 brothers.
Irene was employed at Solar Manufacturing Company and as a bartender
for 35 years at the Buck Inn. She made many long and lasting friendships
during those years.
An MSVP volunteer for many years, Irene was involved with the programs
at Christian Park, St. Vincent de Paul, and the handicapped program,
helping with bowling and the Special Olympics. Irene was also a
member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and the Eagles Auxiliary.
She was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings.
She enjoyed traveling with her friends and family and one of her
greatest passions was dancing, especially with her husband, they
loved dancing together throughout their marriage.
Friends and family may call at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home from
3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Monday April 25, 2011. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated following visitation at 6:00 p.m. on Monday

Nelson Jr., 82, Cornell, passed away peacefully on Saturday
April 16, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. He was born
on August 23, 1928 to the late Adolph and Minnie (Kossow) Nelson
Sr. in Ortonville, MN. On June 1, 1957 he married the former Eileen
Young at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock. She preceded him in death
on February 6, 2011.
Adolph spent his life working in the woods, where he loved to spend
most of his time. He also enjoyed deer hunting, doing different
woodworking projects, helping other people keep up their hunting
properties and with his wife, hosting their annual 4th of July party
for all their friends and family.
Adolph is survived by his two children: Scott (Kathy) Nelson and
Brenda (Jim) Owens, five brothers: Lawrence, Leonard, Marvin (Donna),
Lloyd (Darlene) and Floyd (Judy) Nelson, three sisters: May Ring,
Elsie Caron and Gladys Pearson, three grandchildren: Jeremy (Ashlei)
Nelson, Dan (Tiffany) Nelson and Leah Owens, two great-grandchildren:
Caitlin Kregelka and Brayden Nelson as well as many nieces and nephews.

"Bob" W. Schwalbach, 85, Escanaba, passed away
on Sunday April 10, 2011at Marquette General Hospital following
a brief illness with his loving family by his side. He was born
in Escanaba, the son of the late John and Edith (Peterson) Schwalbach.
He married the former and late Rosemary Lemire at St. Peter's Cathedral
in Marquette.
Upon graduating from Escanaba High School, Bob was a featured ice
skater in the Escanaba Ice shows. He loved ice skating and performing
and as a result was hired by the Ship Stead & Johnson Ice Capades
where he skated professionally for two years until he was drafted
into the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Following his time in the service, Bob attended Layton Art School
in Milwaukee for Interior Design. After design school, he moved
back to Escanaba and opened the Bay Interiors & Drapery Shop
with his brother Dick and later sold his business to the Carpet
& Drapery Shop where he continued to work until his retirement.
Bob is survived by three brothers: Tom (Kay) Schwalbach, Jack (Ione)
Schwalbach and Ken (Barb) Schwalbach, three step-children: Barb
(Don) Pfotenhauer, Don (Gray) Lemire and Susan Lemire, six step-grandchildren,
his good friend: John at Christian Park Healthcare Center where
Bob resided for the past nine months, as well as many nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers:
Dick and Jim Schwalbach and one sister: Helen Enna.

26, 2011 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers with her daughter
by her side. She was born November 20, 1913 in Hermansville, the
daughter of the late Edmond and Maude (Raiche) Paquin. On November
26, 1935 she married the late Alex Rochon at All Saints Church in
Gladstone.
Hazel loved her flowers, gardening, baking, playing bingo, road
trips, socializing, helping with crafts at the Senior Center in
Hermansville and her pet parrot named: "Little Boy", but
most important to her was spending time with her family, especially
all her grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter: Marie (Ervin) Page, three sisters:
Rose, Verna and Beverly, eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren,
three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son:
Robert "Bob" Rochon, one daughter: Patricia "Pat"
Neville, and one grandson: Ervin (Erv) Page. She is further preceded
in death by her brothers and sisters.

"Bob" B. Donovan, 87, Escanaba, made his journey
to be with the Lord on Sunday March 27, 2011 at Christian Park Village.
He was born November 28, 1923 to the late Guy and Mildred (Gouley)
Donovan in Escanaba. On June 2, 1956 he married the former Bette
Peltier and she preceded him in death in 1987.
Bob loved playing cards with his family and friends, going to the
casino, playing bingo and just spending time with his family. Above
all, he will be remembered by his family as a very loving husband,
uncle, brother and will always be missed.
Bob is survived by one brother: Donald (Jean) Donovan, four nieces:
Pat Menard, Judy (Bill) Multhaupt, Maureen (Wayne) Bougie and Colleen

Jane M. Buzzo, 75, of 2600 S. Hill Rd. Lot 15, Gladstone,
MI, made the journey home to our Lord on Friday March 18, 2011 at
her home. She was born on December 14, 1935 in Mattoon, WI, the
only daughter of the late George and Margaret (Kupper) Baures.
Upon graduating from high school in Mattoon, WI she married the
late Albert Bernan Leiskau on September 27, 1952 in Antigo, WI and
was blessed with seven children and later married the late Burton
Buzzo on July 21, 1973 and added one more child to her family. Mary
Jane recieved her two year LPN license in 1973 from Bay De Noc College
and joined the staff at OSF St. Francis Hospital until her retirement.
She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren,
going to church and collecting bird houses.
Mary Jane is survived by her devoted children: daughters: Beverly
Kangas of Tucson, AZ, Dawn Bowden of Waco, TX and Michelle Wendrick
of Daggett, MI, sons: Chris Leiskau of Vail, AZ, Albert Leiskau
of Wells, MI, James Leiskau of Owatonna, MN, Donald Leiskau of Wilmington,
MA and Edward Leiskau of Crandon, WI. She is further survived by
eighteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces
and nephews.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four
brothers: Theodore, William, Donald and Terry Baures.

Ann Poisson, 71, Hermansville, passed away on Saturday
March 12, 2011 at Dickinson County Hospital in Iron Mountain with
her family by her side. She was born on April 8, 1939 in Wyandotte,
MI, the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence (Cvajka) Mexico.
On June 9, 1973 she married the late Gordon Poisson.
Lois was known as a "people person", always laughing and
smiling and will be remembered by her family as a gentle soul.
She is survived by five children: Dawn (Philip) Labre, Susan (Tom)
Kirschner, Joseph Brufach, Christopher (Cathy) Brufach and Amery
(Dave) Saylor, one brother: Bob Mexico, eight grandchildren, three
great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Barbara
Ann Lenca, 80, Wilson, died Saturday March 12, 2011 at
Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
She was born on August 29, 1930 in Bark River, MI, the daughter
of the late Henry and Emma (Lavigne) LaBelle. Barbara married Edward
Lenca on July 5, 1952 in Bark River, MI and the couple made their
home in Wilson. They celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary
in 2002.
Barbara was a member of St. John Neumann Church.
She had a kind, gentle spirit, and always had a smile on her face.
She had a passion for baking and cooking for her family and found
solace in her faith, valued family time and found special joy in
her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her husband: Edward, three sons: Edward Jr.
of Lakewood, Colorado, Stephen (Elizabeth) of Wells, MI and Michael
of Glenn Heights, Texas, one daughter: Carol (Thomas) Witt of Plover,
WI. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Lauren Lenca of
Detroit, MI, Samuel Lenca of Wells, MI, Amanda and Brandon Witt
of Plover, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jacqueline
M. Whitens, 78, Hermansville, passed away on Thursday February
17, 2011 at Bishop Noa Home with her family and friends by her side.
She was born on October 4, 1932 in Bark River, MI, the daughter
of the late Paul and Marie (Blah) Gauthier. On October 31, 1955
she married the late James Whitens in Bark River.
She taught catechism for 10 years; volunteered with the St. Anne’s
Society and with the town Centennial. Jacqueline enjoyed working
as a Dietary-Aid and helping patients at Pine Crest Medical facility
and took pride in creating a beautiful Christian home. She loved
her family and also enjoyed singing, “Que Sera, Sera”
until the last days of her life.
Jacqueline is survived by her three sons: Michael (Jeanne) Whitens,
Paul Whitens and Gerald (Faye) Whitens, one brother: Maurice Gauthier,
one sister: Louise LeGault, four grandchildren: Paige, Rachel, Jason
and Tyler Whitens as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother:
Raymond and three sisters: Jeannette LaFave, Elize Bush and Cecille
Cousineau.

J. Pepin Jr., 88, Escanaba, passed away Monday February
14, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital with his family by his side. He
was born on April 8, 1922 to the late George and Anna (Muther) Pepin
Sr. in Ford River, MI. On May 17, 1947 he married the former Mary
E. Denoo, who passed away on September 10, 1989. He later married
Norma Furton on June 8, 1991 at St. Anne's Parish in Escanaba and
she survives him.
George served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII.
After returning home from the service, George worked numerous different
jobs including owning the Peps Standard Service Station and later
retiring from Harnischfeger Corporation after more the 25 years
there.
He is survived by his wife, six children: Bruce (Mollie) Pepin,
Cindy (Ron) Sundstrom, Wendy Pepin, Fran (Walter Jourdain) Majestic,
George (Terri) Pepin III and Sherry (Dennis) Dyszel, one brother:
John (Mary) Pepin, one daughter-in-law: Pat Pepin, ten grandchildren
as well as great and great-great grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one
son: Rick Pepin, one infant daughter: Terry Pepin, and he is further
preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.

H. Potvin, 99, Escanaba, formerly of Wells, passed away
Sunday morning February 13, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital. She was
born on February 24, 1911 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of the
late Charles and Anna (Gunkel) Call. In 1933 she married the late
Alfred Potvin in Escanaba.
Marguerite was a past member of St. Anthony's Church where she was
involved in the choir and also the St. Anthony's Ladies Guild. She
loved to read and play bridge. Marguerite was always known for her
homemade apple pies.
She is survived by her son: Gerald (Elizabeth) Potvin, two granddaughters:
Debbie Potvin and Vicky (Ed) Giguere, two great-grandchildren: Paul
(Nocole) Gregoire and Jaime (Jason) McCarthy, two great great-grandchildren:
Pryce Gregoire and Kasen Gregoire as well as many nieces and nephews.

"Maggie" M. Nelson, 71, Cornell, passed away
unexpectedly on Sunday February 6, 2011 at her home. She was born
on May 4, 1939 in Escanaba, the daughter of the late Walter and
Leah (Brunette) Young. On June 1, 1957 she married Adolph Nelson
Jr. at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock.
Maggie loved being in the outdoors, gardening and feeding the birds,
and also loved cooking, baking, canning and especially hosting her
annual 4th of July party for all of her friends and family. Her
favorite past time was spending time with and taking care of her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by
her family and friends as someone who was fun to be around and "the
life of the party".
Eileen is survived by her husband of 53 years, her two children:
Scott (Kathy) Nelson and Brenda (Jim) Owens, one brother: Harold
(Sally) Young, two sisters: Germaine Kluz and Delima Bordeau, three

"Bella" B. Jacke, was born at home in Flat Rock,
Delta County, on August 27, 1910, and after a long and busy life,
passed away at the age of 100 on Saturday January 29, 2011 at the
Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba. She was the sixth of thirteen children
born to Zenon and Rosanna (Miron) Chenier. She attended school at
the little two-room school house in Flat Rock and later worked at
St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba where she met her husband, Joseph
Jacke. They were married on May 5, 1931 at St. Francis Hospital
chapel. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1981
with their children, grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
They enjoyed traveling and made several trips to Europe visiting
Joseph's relatives. After 56 years of marriage, Joseph passed away
on September 9, 1987.
Bella was a superb cook and cooked at St. Francis Hospital, St.
Joseph Grade School and Holy Name High School. She was often asked
to prepare banquets for special visitors. When the new Holy Name
School (high school at that time) was built, she equipped the kitchen
and cooked there for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking
and baking special treats for the students and faculty and was famous
for her wonderful sweet rolls and homemade breads.
In her retirement years, she also enjoyed knitting and crocheting
lap afghans, "for the old people" and hats and mittens
"for the children", which she donated to the St. Vincent
DePaul store.
She is survived by her three children, Joseph (Mary Leona ), Robert
(Josee) and Mary (Curtis) Schwab, nine grandchildren , eleven great-grandchildren
and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Bella was also preceded
in death by twelve brothers and sisters.

A. Ayotte, 79, Hermansville, passed away on Sunday January
9, 2011 at her home following a five year battle with cancer. She
was born on July 14, 1931 in Stephenson, MI, the daughter of the
late Norman and Leona (Gaede) Neville Sr.
Doris had a deep love of music and she enjoyed playing different
instruments and writing her own songs. She also loved cooking, saving
her many different recipes and traveling.
Doris is survived by two sons: Gerald (Patricia) Ayotte and Joseph
(Paula) Ayotte, three daughters: Cindy (Bill) Callahan, Marsha (Robert)
Lombard and Shannon Ayotte, one brother: Norman Neville Jr., two

J. Hughes Sr., 93, Escanaba, passed away on Tuesday January
4, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital following a brief illness. He was
born on February 14, 1917 to the late Dr. Andrew and Onnie (Connors)
Hughes in St. Louis, MO. On June 12, 1948 he married the former
Mary Lou Hirn at St. Joseph's Parish and she preceded him in death
in 2003.
John was raised in the Flat Rock area and moved to Escanaba after
he and Mary Lou were married. He graduated from St. Joseph High
School in 1935 and later proudly served his country during WWII
in the U.S. Army spending time in Italy. John retired after many
years from Mead Paper in 1979. He enjoyed gardening and canning
his vegetables, cross country skiing, hunting and just being in
the outdoors.
He is survived by two children: Jack Hughes Jr. and Cathy (Dwaine)
Menard, one brother: Henry (Ileen) Hughes, two sisters: Catherine
Perry and Jane (Harv) Hewitt, three grandchildren: Robyn (Dave)
Douglas, Christopher Hughes and Sarah Hughes, three great-grandchildren:
Brooke, Bryce and Jonathan as well as many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son: Michael

Louise Copeland, 76, Wilson, passed away unexpectedly on
Tuesday January 4, 2011 at her home. She was born on November 13,
1934 to the late Earnest and Dorothy (Layton) McDaniel in Lebanon,
IN. On May 27, 1955 she married Richard "Dick" Copeland
at Pleasant View Methodist Church in Indiana.
Marilyn loved her flowers and taking care of others. She was an
avid Packer fan and Hoosier basketball fan. She enjoyed the peace
and tranquility of their property along the river with her husband
for the past 30 years. Above all, Marilyn will be remembered by
her family as a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, four children: Randal (Kathleen)
Copeland, Daniel (Laura) Copeland, Sandra (Bruce) St. Aubin and
Elizabeth Frievalt, one brother: Gary (Judy) McDaniel, four sisters:

Ervin
E. Vandeville Sr., 91, Gladstone, passed away on Saturday
December 18, 2010 at Christian Park Healthcare Center following
a brief illness. He was born on August 29, 1919 in Escanaba, the
son of Emil and Alice (Wery) Vandeville. Ervin was raised in the
Chemical Plant location and attended Escanaba area Schools. On August
11, 1941 he married the former Rose Pare, and she preceded him in
death on June 7, 1994.
Ervin retired from Mead Paper in 1981, where he was better known
to his friends as "Waterwheel". He enjoyed being with
people and was always ready for a party. Ervin had a great memory,
wonderful sense of humor and would often reminisce about friends
he knew from childhood up through adulthood. You were only a stranger
once to Erv and he always welcomed people into his home in Gladstone
and his cottage on Ostrander Lake. A favorite line of Erv's was,
"if you're not having a good time, it's your own damn fault".
Erv loved gardening and had a large vegetable garden every year.
He canned his own tomatoes and took a lot of pride in his gardening.
He also enjoyed dancing, playing cards, watching any kind of sports,
but most of all loved his family and friends. In October of 2002,
he reconnected with a childhood friend: Genivieve Bellaire, who
was a close and loving companion until her death in January of 2009.
In his later years, nothing gave him greater joy than to be surrounded
by his grandchildren.
Ervin is survived by his four sons: Ervin (Sandy) Vandeville Jr.,
John (Kirsten) Vandeville, Gary (Rose) Vandeville and Dave (Annette)
Vandeville, one sister: Helen Breitzman, one brother: Vern "Buck"
(Flossie) Vandeville, ten grandchildren: Denise (Mike), John (Kristy),
Corey (Lisa), Jenny (Kevin) Shelley, Dan (Carissa), Matt (Julie),
Sarah (William), Daina (Eric) and Jamie (Amy), several great-grandchildren,
brother-in-law: Lyle Pare as well as several nieces and nephews.

Wayne Elie, 70, Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday December
15, 2010 at his home. John was born on May 30, 1940 in Escanaba,
the son of the late Lawrence and Evelyn (Bellefeuille-La Fleur)
Elie.
He attended Escanaba Holy Name High school graduating in 1958.
John served in the Michigan National Guard while he was still in
high school. On July 8, 1958 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps
until his discharge as Lance Corporal. In 1962 he recieved his first
good conduct Medal. Upon his discharge he attended Northern Michigan
College and graduated from Machinist school in 1963.
In 1963 John enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and worked as an Auto
Track Radar Repairman until 1967 with the rank of AIC.
John worked a short time at Chris-Craft Boat Builders in Holland,
MI in 1967 and then decided to make the military his career.
In 1968, he joined the U.S. Navy as an AT2 (E5) and in 1968 he received
Commendation at NAT Memphis, TN for superior scholastic achievement
in Avionics Fundamentals. In 1969 he received a meritorious unit
commendation on the USS Oris Kany CVA34 in combat operatives in
Southeast Asia and in 1970 received citation for outstanding performance
of duty while attached to fighter squadron 191 as an Avionics Bench
Technician. In 1971 John completed and certified in AT2 course of
Instructor training and also receiving his second good conduct medal.
In1979 received letter of commendation at NAS Moffat Field, Ca for
personal achievement, high professional standards and exceptional
performance of duties and in 1980 he received his third good conduct
medal. On December 5, 1980 at the rank of AW1 E6 at NAS Whidbey
Island, Washington John retired with his honorable discharge.
Upon his retirement from the Navy John returned to Escanaba and
worked part time as a desk clerk at Pioneer Motor Inn and as a Security
Guard at Various Places.
He always got a sparkle in his eyes and a big smile seeing and tussling
with his young nephews and nieces. John was a camera bug while in
the military and loved to send pictures home of people and places
that he had seen. He was a veracious reader about anything that
had to do with the military and was very knowledgeable about military
armaments, vehicles, planes, and ships. John always tried to keep
things simple. If he didn't use it, or need it, he got rid of it.
He would always try to maintain his independence and would never
ask for help if it was needed.
John is survived by his mother: Evelyn Elie, one brother: Lawrence
(Victoria) Elie, one sister: Mary Rose Ramsey, seven nephews, four
nieces, ten great-nephews, fourteen great-nieces, one great great-nephew
and five great great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother.
Honoring John Elie's wishes, he was cremated and his cremains will
be honorably buried in the Veterans section at Gardens of Rest Cemetery.

"Toots" L. Cousineau, 93, Escanaba, passed away
on Friday December 17, 2010 at Bishop Noa Home. She was born on
August 16, 1917 to the late Joseph and Louisiana (Sabourin) Morin
in Wells, MI. On May 22, 1940 she married the late Joseph Cousineau
at St. Anne's Parish in Escanaba.
Sophia worked a variety of jobs throughout her life including, housework,
Meals on Wheels, whom she was one of the founders, the Foster Grandparent
Program and Holy Name School where she retired from at the age of
80. She was a lifelong member of St. Anne's Parish, and also belonged
to the Daughters of Isabella and the St. Anne's church choir. Sophia
enjoyed helping with different church functions including, working
at the St. Anne food tent at the State Fairgrounds and with the
St. Anne's Ladies Luncheon Committee. She was also in the Ladies
International Bowling Congress and the Women's Dart ball League.
She loved bowling and playing cards.
Sophia is survived by her three children: Ronald (Marian) Cousineau,
Donald (Carole) Cousineau and Sue (Thomas) Sorenson, one brother:
Joseph Morin, one sister: Una Green, four grandchildren: Steven
(Jessica), Kevin, Mark (Elaine) and Michael (Bettina) Cousineau,
nine great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers:

Raymond Hansen, 73, of Hermansville passed away on Monday
December 6, 2010 at home. He was born on July 30, 1937 to the late
Clyde and Margaret (Codreon) Hansen in Iron River, MI.
Leonard is survived by his wife: Dorothy Hansen, two sons: Raymond
(Cheryl) Hansen of Rogers City, MI and Lonnie (Sarah) Hansen of
Carney, MI and three granddaughters: Melissa, Nina and Violet who
he loved spending time with and was very proud of.
A private family memorial service to celebrate Leonard Hansen's

I. Kobasic, 89, Escanaba, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday
December 4, 2010 at his home. He was born on May 9, 1921 in Escanaba,
the son of the late Frank and Ella (Siminic) Kobasic Sr. On June
22, 1949 he married the former and late Corabell Schoen in Chicago,
IL.
John proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942
to 1945 receiving a Bronze Star for his bravery in WWII. He worked
numerous jobs throughout his life, but really loved carpentry work
and working in the woods. In his younger years, he loved spending
time at family parties, having lamb roasts, playing his guitar and
singing and playing horseshoes. He also loved gardening and doing
his firewood. John was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Mr. Kobasic was survived by three children: Marty (Dennis) Verbrigghe,
Frances Gravelle and John J. (Karen) Kobasic, nine grandchildren,
nine great-grandchildren, his barber: Tony, his chauffer: Jake,
as well as many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers:
Frank Jr., Peter and Steve Kobasic and five sisters: Mary Stropich,
Rose Derkos, Anne Blagec, Katherine Hickman and Frances Kobasic.

"Lu" A. Pearson, 61, Wells, passed away following
a brief illness on Friday December 3, 2010 at Marquette General
Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on September
8, 1949 to Lionel and the late MaryLou (Gamble) LaBelle in Daggett,
MI. On October 22, 1988 she married James Pearson at St. Steven's
Episcopal Church in Escanaba.
Lu owned and operated Sully's Sandwich shop for over 31 years. She
enjoyed gardening, walking her dog and spending time with her family,
especially her foster grandchildren: Justin and Taylor.
Lu is survived by her husband, her father, her son: Adam (fiancé:
Kristi Beauchamp) Sullivan, two brothers: Gary and Rick (Gina) LaBelle,
five sisters: Darlene (Cam) Parrish, Mary (Martin) Salley, Cindy
LaBelle, Dawn (Mike) Wolfe and Diane (Van) Stanley as well as many
nieces and nephews.
Her mother preceded her in death.

"Jon" H. LaCosse, 53, Plover, WI, formerly of
Hermansville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday November 19, 2010
in California. He was born on June 19, 1957 to the late Howard "Mickey"
and Elizabeth "Betty" (Arnold) LaCosse in Escanaba. His
birth parents passed away when he was a young boy and was then raised
by his current parents: Robert "Bob" and June Arnold.
Jon served his country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed photography,
tinkering, designing things and being creative with solutions to
fixing different things. Jon spent most of his career as an over
the road truck driver.
He is survived by his current parents, his two daughters: Michelle
(Leo) Gorzinski and Jill LaCosse, three brothers: Wayne, Larry (Marge)
and Jeff LaCosse, two sisters: Mae (Dave) Joerndt and Melanie (Significant
other: Guy Morris) LaCosse, four grandchildren: Keenan LaCosse and
Leo, Luke and Lane Gorzinski as well as many nieces and nephews.

"Bernie" B. O'Sullivan, 84, Wilson, passed away
on Saturday November 27, 2010 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility
with his family by his side. He was born on May 17, 1926 to the
late John and Veronica (O'Sullivan) Jenkins in Lackawanna, NY. On
June 26, 1954 he married the former Joyce Bush in Chicago and she
preceded him in death in 2008.
Bernie was a carpenter by trade, but also owned and operated the
Wilson Bar with his wife for many years. He proudly served his country
in the U.S. Navy for seven years, earning different medals during
his time in the military. Bernie was also an avid hunter, golfer
and a Green Bay Packer fan and for many years enjoyed having coffee
with his friends at the Redwood restaurant.
He is survived by his two daughters: Lynn (Jothy) Ferguson and Sharon
(David) Kleikamp, one brother: Ron (Ceil) Jenkins, one sister: Eloise
(John) Dedich, three grandchildren: Kasey, Christopher and Kelley,
one brother-in-law: Wayne Bush, one sister-in-law: Pat Jenkins as
well as nieces and nephews.
Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother:
Dan Jenkins and one sister-in-law: Gail Bush.

C. Kleikamp, 80, Powers, passed away on Saturday November
13, 2010 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility with her family by her
side. She was born on November 26, 1929 in Niagra, WI, the daughter
of the late Joseph and Josephine (Dembeck) Ponegalek. On October
25, 1947 she married the late Royal Kleikamp at St. Francis Xavier
Church in Spalding.
Marion and Royal together owned and operated the 47 Tavern in Wilson
for over seventeen years. Amongst her many enjoyments in life, her
favorite was spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Kleikamp is survived by seven sons: Jim (Jean) Kleikamp, Gary
(Barbara) Kleikamp, Ronald (Pattie) Kleikamp, Michael (Carol) Kleikamp,
John Kleikamp, Bernard (Patty) Kleikamp and David (Sharon) Kleikamp,
two daughters: Donna (Steve) Cappaert and Diane (Allen) Sacheck,
one sister: Genevieve Chartier, twenty-one grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren
and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and an infant
granddaughter: Karen Kleikamp.

Thomas Rochon, 18, Hermansville, passed away unexpectedly
at home on Thursday November 11, 2010. He was born on October 22,
1992 in Iron Mountain, the son of David and Karen (Wells) Rochon.
Chad was a Junior at North Central High School. He enjoyed life
and spending time with his friends. Chad loved all sports, especially
playing football and basketball and also loved being in the outdoors.
He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him and remembered
by his family for his deep love for them.
Chad is survived by his parents, his four sisters: Shelle, Kerri,
Darcy and Dana Rochon, maternal grandparents: Thomas and Elinor
Wells, God parents: Ron Wells and Renee Whitens as well as many
aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Uldage and

T. Lustick, 92, Greenfield, WI, formerly of Escanaba, passed
away on Monday November 1, 2010 at Vitas at Ruth Hospice House in
West Allis, WI. She was born on August 20, 1918 in Osier, MI, the
daughter of the late Edward and Eva (Morin) Lancour. On November
28, 1936 she married the late Louis Lustick in Rapid River.
Helen remained very active at St. Thomas Church, volunteering to
help with any church affairs and helping others until moving to
Greenfield, WI about seven years ago to live with her daughter.
She was also the treasurer of Christian Mothers in Milwaukee, WI.
Helen is survived by her two children: Sandra LaBarbera and Raymond
(Coleen) Lustick, two brothers: Roger (Joyce) Lancour and Gerald
(Vernice) Lancour, two sisters: Nell Rae St. Onge and Sharon (John)
Bates, five grandchildren: Erin (Isaac) Springer, Lindsay (Randy)
McGraw, Anthony LaBarbera, Blake LaBarbera and Karen (David) Schmid,
five great-grandchildren: Katie, Cara, Sophia, Ryan and Ava, as
well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers:

Harold
J. Rathfoot Jr., 80, Escanaba, passed away on Friday October
29, 2010 following a lengthy illness at Marquette General Hospital
with his loving wife by his side. He was born on August 22, 1930
in Ann Arbor, MI, the son of the late Harold and Alice (Laycock)
Rathfoot Sr. On November 28, 1964 he married the former Theresa
Pepin at St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Harold served his country in the U.S. Air Force spending his time
in Korea and also was a graduate of Michigan State University. After
serving in the military, he was employed as a professional Civil
Engineer building roads and later employed by the Oakland County
Road Commission and as the Engineer Manager of the Delta County
Road Commission until retiring in 1993. Harold enjoyed the outdoors,
especially hunting and wood working in his workshop. He was also
an avid reader and very interested in aviation. Harold was a member
of St. Thomas Church and a resident of the Bishop Noa Home.
Mr. Rathfoot is survived by his wife of 45 years, his son: Christopher
(Tammy) Rathfoot of Knoxville, TN, his daughter: Patricia (Jim)
Wright of Rochester, MN, four grandchildren: Chase and Ryan Rathfoot
and Elizabeth and Mary Wright, two sisters-in-law: Rita Shannon
and Sr. Lorraine Pepin as well as aunts and cousins.
His parents preceded him in death.

John Kleikamp, 79, of Wilson, passed away on Thursday October
28, 2010 at his home. He was born on July 1, 1931 to the late Edward
and Ruby (Harke) Kleikamp in Marinette, WI.
He graduated from Stephenson High School.
On April 14, 1956 he married Shirley Gagne at St. Francis Church.
Worked in the woods for many years after High School. He was a farmer
all of his life and worked for Harnischfeger Corp. in Escanaba for
18 years.
He enjoyed snowmobiling, Green Bay Packers, going to camp, hunting,
and foresting in the woods.
Edward was a member of Normenco Sportsman’s Club.
He is survived by his wife Shirley, sons Patrick Kleikamp, Gerald
(Jeanne) Kleikamp and Roger Kleikamp all of Wilson; daughters Janice
Bingham of Escanaba and Nancy (Jim) Motto of Wilson; 4 grandchildren;
and 2 great grandchildren.

"Hoss", "Hunzo", Gasser" Paul Nowack,
39, Katy, Texas, formerly of Spalding, passed away on Tuesday October
12, 2010 in New Mexico from injuries sustained in an automobile
accident. He was born in Escanaba on March 1, 1971, the son of Frank
and Diane (Clarinda) Nowack Jr.
The highlight of Jon's life was his children: Drew and Sam! He loved
life and lived it to the fullest. Jon and his son: Drew are avid
Michigan fans. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and all sports and he
loved to listen to music. Jon will be sadly missed by his family
and friends across the country and world.
He is survived by his two children: Drew and Samantha, his parents,
one sister: Jodi (Bill) Dettman, two brothers: Oscar (Linda) Nowack
and Chris (Anita) Nowack, his grandfather: Farmer Nowack as well
as six nieces and one nephew.
A celebration of Jon's life will be on Tuesday October 19, 2010

M. Lepisto (Shanahan), 94, Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday
morning October 13, 2010 at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba. She was
born on September 14, 1916 to the late Olga Wallin in Winnipeg,
Canada. On July 18, 1934 she married Lawrence Shanahan in Escanaba
and he preceded her in death in 1971 then later married the late
Clyde Lepisto in 1975 in Menominee, MI.
Blanche will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother
and as an excellent homemaker and she loved spending time with her
grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter: Shan (Robert) Bergeon of Two Rivers,
WI, two sisters: Amelia Dahl and Barbara Kassick both of Escanaba,
six grandchildren: Robbin (Myron Ahrens) Meyer of Two Rivers, WI,
Micki Wallander of Green Bay, WI, Pooki (Roy) Plasky of Two Rivers,

and Lori Shanahan of Neenah, WI, as well as great-grandchildren,

She was born on December 7, 1918 in Ford River, MI, the daughter
of the late Oscar and Rhoda (Irving) Anderson. On May 15, 1937 she
married the late Charles J. Joncas at St. Anne's Parish in Escanaba.
Joey is survived by her two sons: Leon (Connie) Joncas and Marshall
(Sandy) Joncas, two sisters: Elvera Segorski and Mae Pease, twelve
grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren as well as many nieces
and nephews.

"Liz" A. Wilkey, 68, Wilson, passed away on Wednesday
October 6, 2010 at Marquette General Hospital surrounded by her
family. She was born on October 9, 1941 to the late Wiley and Elizabeth
(Vire) Walters Sr. in Terre Hute, IN.
Liz loved camping, hunting, fishing and bird watching. She will
be remembered by her family as a very loving mother, grandmother
and sister. Most importantly to Liz, was spending time with her
family and friends.
She is survived by her seven children: Fred (Kathy) Wilkey, David
(Margaret) Wilkey, Kenneth (Renee) Wilkey, Elizabeth (Mark) Gudwer,
Cynthia LaFave, Scott McDonald and Texas (Amy) McDonald, two brothers:
Wiley Walters Jr. and John (Pat) Walters Sr., nineteen grandchildren,

"Louie" R. LeClaire, 85, Escanaba, went home
to be with the Lord on Tuesday October 5, 2010 surrounded by his
loving family after a three year battle with ALS at Bishop Noa Home.
He was born on December 6, 1924 to the late Eugene and Louise (Mailhot)
LeClaire in Escanaba. On June 29, 1957 he married the former Shirley
(Cannon) Karjala at St. Anne's Parish in Escanaba.
Louie entered the U.S. Army at age 19, proudly serving his country
in the Tenth Mountain Division in Italy during WWII. He recieved
a Purple Heart upon his honorable discharge. Louie remained very
active with the Purple Heart organization and the Tenth Mountain
Division throughout the rest of his life. He was also very active
at St. Anne's Parish serving on different committees all his life.
Louie loved playing the guitar and singing, especially at his camp,
"The 40". He will be remembered most for his big smile,
his generous spirit and riding his bicycle around town and for helping
his neighbors and friends at Bishop Noa Home. He will be missed
by all who knew him.
Louie is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, two children:
Amy (James) Wilson and David LeClaire, one brother: Leonard (Estelle)
LeClaire, three sisters: Therese (John) Remski, Sr. Margaret LeClaire
SSSF and Sr. Noel LeClaire SSSF, four grandchildren: Michael, Lisa,
Anna and William Wilson as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Edward,
Clifford, Lawrence and Francis LeClaire and one sister: Ceceil Sarasin.

M. Remsberg, 85, Wells, passed away Monday morning at St.
Francis Hospital. She was born in Iron Mountain, MI on September
4, 1925, the daughter of the late Joseph and Isabel (Couillard)
Guindon. On February 27, 1954 she married the late Homer Remsberg
in Escanaba.
Alice volunteered her time with the Meals on Wheels program in wells.
She also enjoyed playing cards, going out to lunch with her family
and friends and wintering in Florida with her husband after his
retirement.
She is survived by one brother: Francis (Mary) Guindon, nieces and
nephews: Diane Isaacson, Daune St. Vincent, Daryl St. Vincent, Allen
(Lisa) Guindon and Penny (Charles) Propst, as well as many great
nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one
sister: Leona St. Vincent.
Honoring Alice Remsberg's wishes, her family will have a private
burial service at Holy Cross Cemetery where she will be laid to
rest next to her husband.

Mae Arnold, 76, Hermansville, passed away unexpectedly
on Monday September 13, 2010 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay,
WI. She was born on May 4, 1934 to the late William and Elizabeth
(Polmatier) Davis in Iron Mountain, MI. On June 5, 1954 she married
the late William Arnold at 1st Methodist Church in Hermansville.
Donna is survived by her three sons: David (Carol) Arnold, Greg
(Peggy) Arnold and Mike (Fay) Arnold, two sisters: Joyce Gennara
and Betty Kirschner, seven grandchildren: Greg Jr., Jason, Melissa,
Brooke, Amanda, Nathan and Christine, three great-grandchildren:
Olivia, Logan and August as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers:
Klaude, Gerald, George and William Jr. Davis and two sisters: Maureen
Sumberg and Isabelle Anderson.

16, 2010 at the Carney Evangelical Free Church. A memorial service
to celebrate the life of Donna Arnold will follow visitation at

M. Betters, 94, Powers, passed away peacefully with her
family by her side on Saturday September 11, 2010 at Pinecrest Medical
Care Facility. She was born on March 11, 1916 to the late Joseph
and Rose (Dupont) Gagne in Spalding. On December 2, 1933 she married
the late Napoleon Betters at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church
in Spalding.
Lillie is a past member of the St. Anne's Society, Catholic Order
of Foresters, P. S. Lioness Club and the Parish Council. She worked
part time and also as a volunteer at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility
for many years. Lillie enjoyed traveling with her family and was
also an avid gardener and homemaker. She loved spending time with
her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Lillie recently said, "I've lived life to the fullest, and
you have to make the best of it".
She is survived by her five children: Shirley Charlier, Paul (Jean)
Betters, Francis (Nancy) Betters, Gerald (Jill) Betters and Thomas
(Mary) Betters, twenty grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren,
three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and fifteen
brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday September
14, 2010 at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding with the St. Anne's
Rosary at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated

P. Wheeler, 96, Powers, passed away on Monday August 30,
2010 at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Mequon, WI. She was born
on October 16, 1913 to the late Stanley and Anna (Fromholtz) Klock
in Ashland, WI. On October 29, 1945 she married the late Robert
Wheeler in Great Falls, Montana while they were both serving in
the U.S. Army.
Rose was a member of the Tony Revord American Legion Post #244 and
the Catholic Order of Foresters. She loved cooking, baking, knitting,
crocheting and socializing with her friends. Rose also loved being
a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be remembered
by all who knew her for her great Catholic faith.
She is survived by her daughter: Ann (Patrick "Doug")
Cashin, two grandsons: Robert (Kathleen) Cashin and Daniel Cashin,
two great-grandchildren: Kelsey and Cameron Cashin, one brother-in-law:
Francis Wheeler, two sisters-in-law: Alice Becker and Jean Wheeler
as well as many nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers

Ralph
H. Sarnowski, 87, Escanaba, passed away on Sunday August
29, 2010 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility. He was born on January
14, 1923 to the late Anton and Anna (Beliot) Sarnowski in Milwaukee,
WI. On December 1, 1945 he married the former Jean Moras at St.
Joseph's Church in Escanaba and she preceded him in death in 2005.
Ralph served his country in the U.S. Army and is a WWII veteran.
He recieved a Purple Heart medal along with different medals he
earned during his time in the Army. Ralph was employed for over
38 years at the Chicago Northwestern Railroad where he retired from
in 1984. He was a member of the Escanaba Elks Lodge #354, Order
of the Purple Heart and the Highland Golf Club and was also an avid
Eskimo football fan attending as many games as he could. Ralph enjoyed
walking, spending time at the cottage and time with his grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed his winters in Gulf Shores,
AL for over 20 years.
Ralph is survived by his seven children: Ralph (Janet) Sarnowski,
Susan (Ron) Wiesman, Roger (Jane) Sarnowski, Paul (Janell) Sarnowski,
Tom Sarnowski, John (Mary) Sarnowski and Mary Lee Sarnowski, nine
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one sister:

Arlene
Helen Labre, 91, Powers, passed away on Friday August 27,
2010 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility. She was born in Wilson,
MI on April 9, 1919, the daughter of the late Jesse and Exena (Nault)
Bellefeuil. Arlene grew up and worked on the Bellefeuil farm, and
attended school in Wilson.
On April 17, 1940 she married the late Philip Labre at St. Francis
Xavier Church in Spalding and together raised their three sons and
owned and operated Labre's Store in Spalding, a combination grocery
and appliance store for approximately 40 years. Following Philip's
retirement, Arlene continued working in the store for her son: P.
Leo and later the Fazer family. Philip and Arlene enjoyed many travels
during their retirement. They made maple syrup and entertained many
family gatherings both at their family camp and at their home in
Spalding.
Arlene's hobbies included bowling, sewing, quilting, gardening,
hosting and attending many family functions. She was a long serving
member of the St. Anne's Society of the St. John Neumann Catholic
Church in Spalding. Arlene had a natural talent for gardening, especially
her extraordinary flowers. She also had a great affection for birds.
Arlene is survived by her two sons: P. Leo (Joyce) and Thomas (Amy)
Labre both of Spalding, two brothers: Norbert (Casarina) Bellefeuil
of Wilson and Raymond (Mary Jane) Bellefeuil of Escanaba, one sister:

"Barb" Jean Giuliani, 66, Hermansville, passed
away unexpectedly on Wednesday August 18, 2010 at Bay Area Medical
Center in Marinette, WI. She was born on October 14, 1943 to the
late John and Rose (Ayotte) Opolka in Menominee, MI. On October
30, 1965 she married Ken Giuliani at St. Mary's Catholic Church
in Hermansville.
Barb had worked for 10 years at Norway Gravure. She enjoyed gardening,
crafting and with the help of her family, she ran the pumpkin patch
and haunted house in Hermansville for many years. Most importantly
to Barb was spending time with her family, especially her "grand
dogs".
Barb is survived by her husband of 44 years, three children: Kathy
Giuliani, Sandy (Josh) Hundsrucker and Ken "Kenny" Giuliani,
one brother: John (Judy) Opolka, her special aunt: Dorothy Ayotte
as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her parents preceded her in death.

"Jack" L. Kassick, 94, Escanaba, passed away
Monday afternoon August 16, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital. He was
born in Escanaba on November 20, 1915, the son of the late Emil
and Mae (Dishno) Kassick. On February 28, 1938 he married the former
Lillian Derusha at St. Anne's Church in Escanaba. This year they
celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.
Jack graduated from St. Joseph's School in 1936. He was a carpenter
by trade retiring in 1980 in Chicago. Jack also worked on the Chicago
and Northwestern ore docks, Harry's Bar and the Mackinaw Bridge
before moving to Chicago. He was a veteran of WWII serving his country
in the Army Signal Corp's. Jack was a life member of the Disabled
Veterans of Delta County #24 and for 59 years the American Legion
Post # 82. He was also a member of St. Joseph & St. Patrick's
Church for over 60 years.
Jack is survived by his wife, sisters-in-law: Barbara Kassick of
Escanaba, Irene Lachapelle of Escanaba, Solange Lachapelle of Appleton,
WI, Irene Parins of Escanaba, Therese Gersich of Escanaba and Loretta
Connelly of Calumet City, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son: John Kassick Jr.,
brothers: William and Gordon Kassick, step-father: John Lachapelle,
step-brothers: John and Francis Lachapelle and step-sisters: Margaret

M. Beauchamp, 96, Flat Rock, passed away peacefully surrounded
by her family on Saturday August 14, 2010 at Bishop Noa Home. She
was born on January 17, 1914, the daughter of the late Adalord and
Georgiana (Nadon) Plouff in Flat Rock. In 1936 she married the late
William Beauchamp at Holy Family Church.
Agnes enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards and dominoes with her
family and had earned her nickname as "cookie grandma".
In her past, she had worked as the camp cook at different logging
camps and as a housekeeper at Bishop Noa Home and for different
residents homes in the area. Agnes was also the Escanaba Township
Clerk.
She is survived by four sons: Norman (Anne) Beauchamp of St. John,
MI, Jim (Pat) Beauchamp of Flat Rock, Duane (Glenda) Beauchamp of
Flat Rock and Alan (Denise) Beauchamp of Kenosha, WI, twenty-nine
grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren as well
as numerous nieces and nephews.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons:
Robert (Lorraine) Beauchamp and Ronald Beauchamp, one great-granddaughter:

"Bonnie" Janowski, 76, Fayette, passed away peacefully
with her husband by her side on Wednesday August 11, 2010 at St.
Francis Hospital. She was born on July 7, 1934 to the late Walter
and Jennie (Louis) Collins in Fairport, MI. on July 7, 1956 she
married Michael Janowski at St. Peter's Church in Fayette, MI.
Bonnie worked as a Registered Nurse most of her life retiring in
1996 as an RN at the Austin State School in Texas.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, four children: A. Michele
Janowski of Austin, TX, Timothy Janowski of Victoria, TX, Matthew
(Michelle) Janowski of Cedar Park, TX and Mark (Suzanna) Janowski
of Prescott, MI, two brothers: James (Ione) Collins and Jude (Barbara)

Sister Regine Collins, Pauline Cleary, Teresa Wilson, Rita (Charles)

V. Jerome, 90, Escanaba, passed away Monday morning August
9, 2010 at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba. She was born in Escanaba
on September 1, 1919 to the late Zephyr and Catherine (Grathen)
Jerome.
Alice attended school at Webster, St. Joe's and Escanaba High School,
where she graduated from in 1938. She worked at the Delta County
Health Department before moving to Milwaukee, WI where she resided
for over 60 years. Alice worked for Bucyrus Erie and Allan Bradley
retiring in 1984. She later moved back to Escanaba in 2005.
Alice is survived by two nieces: Rose Mary Nevala of Escanaba and
Betty Lou Tourangeau of Flat Rock as well as several great nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Frank and
Bernard Massard.

M. St. Pierre, 57, Escanaba, died unexpectedly at her home
due to natural causes on Wednesday August 4, 2010. She was born
on April 29, 1953 to the late Henry and Julanne (Honkavaara) Isabelle
in Marquette, MI. On October 2, 1982 she married Terry St. Pierre.
During high school, Mary attended the Baniff School of Fine Arts
in Baniff, Canada, where she studied musical theatre in 1970. After
graduating from high school in 1971, she went to the United States
International University School of Performing Arts in Dan Diego,
California where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in voice
and musical theatre in 1975. Mary also recieved a master's degree
in music education from Northern Michigan University in 1977. After
graduating from NMU, Mary went abroad and studied opera at the American
Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria where she recieved
a degree in opera. Mary has used her skills throughout her life
to either sing professionally or teach others the gift of music.
Mary was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba and the
Bay De Noc Choral Society. She loved spending time at her cabin,
hiking, fishing, backpacking and camping with her husband. Mary
also loved animals, especially their dog: Caesar. Amongst Mary's
many talents, she was also an excellent volleyball and tennis player,
winning many first place trophies. She also enjoyed skiing, skating
and rollerblading.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, one brother: Henry Isabelle,
her father and mother-in-law: Wayne and Dorothy St. Pierre, brother-in-law:
Mark St. Pierre, sister-in-law: Cheryl St. Pierre as well as several
aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister: Julanne
Isabelle.

A. DeGrand, 89, Escanaba, passed away on Saturday July
31, 2010 at her home just three months before her 90th birthday.
She was born on October 6, 1920 to the late Alfred and Emma (Frenche)
LaFleur in Escanaba. On July 6, 1940 she married the late Emil DeGrand
at St. Anne's Church.
Agnes enjoyed spending time at her cottage, picking blueberries,
riding her three-wheeler and water skiing until the age of 84. She
also volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul and Bishop Noa Home and was
an active member at St. Anne's Church for many years. Agnes lived
a long and full life and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.
She is survived by her three children: Janet Spieth, Michael DeGrand
and Gary (Sheryl) DeGrand as well as her five granddaughters: Kimberly,
Amanda and Nicole Spieth and Jennifer and Amy DeGrand.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her
six brothers: Arthur, Will, Roy, Lionel, Bobby and Edmund.

"Pat" G. Lynaugh, 73, Escanaba, passed away peacefully
surrounded by her family on Tuesday July 27, 2010 at St. Francis
Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born on July 19, 1937
to the late Vern and Juanita (Fulton) Ward in Gladstone. On September
17, 1955 she married John Lynaugh at St. Thomas Catholic Church
in Escanaba.
Pat was a member of the Saulte Tribe of Chippewa Indians. She loved
traveling the world with her husband and family, camping, reading,
crocheting, shopping and she was an avid Green Bay Packer and Detroit
Tiger fan. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family,
especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her husband of 55 years, two daughters: Charyl
(Kevin) Dubord and Laura Lynaugh, four grandchildren: Heather (Tim)
Jarvis, Eric (Robin) Dubord, Jessica Lake and Amanda Chenier, seven
great-grandchildren: Kendall "Queen", Kent and Lilly Dubord,

at Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba. A funeral service to celebrate
Pat Lynaugh's life will follow visitation at Allo Coolman Funeral
Home at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with Fr. Jose Maramattam officiating.
A luncheon will be served at the Elks lodge in Escanaba. Burial
will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.

Arlene
I. Hirn, 77, Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday June 16,
2010 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She
was born November 28, 1932 to the late William and Helen (Oman)
Silverstone in Iron Mountain, MI. On March 31, 1951 she married
the late Clarence Hirn in Milwaukee, WI.
Arlene is survived by her five children: Terence (Deanna) Hirn,
Judith (Steven) Wentarmini, Jalynn Adams, Julie (Bryan) Thetford
and Janet (Jeffery) Sebeck, one brother: Donald (Bobbie) Silverstone,
three sisters: Mavis (Donald) Woods, Eunice Silverstone and Cheryl
Fontana, twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren as well as
many nieces, nephews and good friends.
Her father and her husband preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday June 21,
2010 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated following visitation on Monday at 1:30
p.m. at St. Anne's Parish with Fr. Francis DeGroot officiating.
Burial will follow Mass in the Holy Cross Cemetery. A luncheon will
be held in the church fellowship hall. |

"Patty" A. Clark,52 , Escanaba, passed away on
June 16, 2010 at her home after a courageous 2 year battle with
cancer. Patty was born March1, 1958 in Detroit, the daughter of
Ed and Helen (Carvelle) Tumey of Detroit ,where she lived until
1973 when her family moved to Curtis, Mi. She attended school in
Detroit at Denby High School and later in Newberry where she graduated
from in 1976.
Patty married Jim Clark on June 26, 1976. Together they have lived
in Newberry, Petoskey and Madison before settling in Escanaba in
1982.
Patty was employed as a Pharmacy Tech for Kmart and Wal-Mart. Most
recently she worked as a clerk at the Dollar Tree in Escanaba. She
also worked for many years at the Radio Results Network.
Patty enjoyed gardening, crocheting, animals, swimming and being
with her many friends and family. She was also an active member
of the Krusin Klassics.
Patty will be sadly missed by her husband: Jim of Escanaba, her
daughter: Kylie (Heath) Beckstrom of Escanaba, her son: Michael
(Tracy) Clark of Grand Rapids Mi, and her grandson, who she loved
dearly, James Michael Clark of Grand Rapids.
She is further survived by her mother: Helen Tumey of Sturgeon Bay,
Wis. Sisters: Jackie (Fred) Nazar of Sturgeon Bay WI, Nancy ( Larry)
Costello of Peach Tree City GA, Peggy (Jim) Heinlin of Tulsa ,OK,
Brother: Greg (Joann) of Ortonville MI,
father-in-law: Ernie (Nancy) Clark of Newberry, Sisters-in-law:
Janet (Greg) Warren of St Ignace and Judy (Mike) Robinson of St.
Ignace as well as many nieces and nephews and grand dogs Jack and
Aidan. She will be sadly missed by all her friends and family.

to celebrate the life of Patricia Clark will follow visitation on
Friday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Eric Olson officiating.
A luncheon will follow services in the St. Joseph & St. Patrick's
Parish fellowship hall.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, her family has requested
that donations be made to the Delta County Cancer Alliance. Envelopes
will be provided at the funeral home.
