Bette Jo Sutherland, 85, Hermansville, passed away on Tuesday September 28, 2021 at Dickinson Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain. She was born on March 15, 1936 in Pontiac, MI, daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Janssen) Carron. On July 9, 1955 she married the late William "Bill" Sutherland in Norway, MI.
Bette loved quilting, card making and gardening, but to her, family always came first. She also loved her job as a teacher in different schools for over 30 years.
Bette is survived by her three children: Nonda (Todd) Henshaw, William B. (Anna Marie) Sutherland and Lee (Elizabeth) Sutherland, one sister: Barb (Harold) Poupore, nine grandchildren: Andrew, Faith, Katherine, Matthew, Jennifer, Emily, Bradley, Daniel and Adam, six great-grandchildren: Aliyya, Charlotte, Ellie, Joey, Michael and Autumn, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, a son: Stephen Sutherland and three grandchildren: Brian, Michael and Stephanie.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. (CST) on Monday October 4, 2021 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church (N3770 Pine Mountain Road, Iron Mountain, MI 49801). A funeral service will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. (CST) on Monday at the church with Pastor Jim Nephew officiating. A luncheon will follow services in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Escanaba.
