Harold J. Rathfoot Jr., 80, Escanaba, passed away on Friday October 29, 2010 following a lengthy illness at Marquette General Hospital with his loving wife by his side. He was born on August 22, 1930 in Ann Arbor, MI, the son of the late Harold and Alice (Laycock) Rathfoot Sr. On November 28, 1964 he married the former Theresa Pepin at St. Thomas the Apostle Church.

Harold served his country in the U.S. Air Force spending his time in Korea and also was a graduate of Michigan State University. After serving in the military, he was employed as a professional Civil Engineer building roads and later employed by the Oakland County Road Commission and as the Engineer Manager of the Delta County Road Commission until retiring in 1993. Harold enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and wood working in his workshop. He was also an avid reader and very interested in aviation. Harold was a member of St. Thomas Church and a resident of the Bishop Noa Home.

Mr. Rathfoot is survived by his wife of 45 years, his son: Christopher (Tammy) Rathfoot of Knoxville, TN, his daughter: Patricia (Jim) Wright of Rochester, MN, four grandchildren: Chase and Ryan Rathfoot and Elizabeth and Mary Wright, two sisters-in-law: Rita Shannon and Sr. Lorraine Pepin as well as aunts and cousins.

His parents preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday November 2, 2010 at Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba with Delta County Veterans Council Rites at 7:15 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday November 3, 2010 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church with Fr. Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will follow Mass in the church fellowship hall. Mr. Rathfoot will be laid to rest in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
