Adolph Nelson Jr., 82, Cornell, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 16, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. He was born on August 23, 1928 to the late Adolph and Minnie (Kossow) Nelson Sr. in Ortonville, MN. On June 1, 1957 he married the former Eileen Young at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock. She preceded him in death on February 6, 2011.
Adolph spent his life working in the woods, where he loved to spend most of his time. He also enjoyed deer hunting, doing different woodworking projects, helping other people keep up their hunting properties and with his wife, hosting their annual 4th of July party for all their friends and family.
Adolph is survived by his two children: Scott (Kathy) Nelson and Brenda (Jim) Owens, five brothers: Lawrence, Leonard, Marvin (Donna), Lloyd (Darlene) and Floyd (Judy) Nelson, three sisters: May Ring, Elsie Caron and Gladys Pearson, three grandchildren: Jeremy (Ashlei) Nelson, Dan (Tiffany) Nelson and Leah Owens, two great-grandchildren: Caitlin Kregelka and Brayden Nelson as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 53 years and one brother: Roy Nelson Sr.
Friends may call from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 20, 2011 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba. A funeral service to celebrate Adolph Nelson's life will follow visitation at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Allo Coolman Funeral Home with Fr. John Tourangeau O.Praem. officiating. Adolph and his wife: Eileen, will be laid to rest together at the Escanaba Township Cemetery in the spring.
