Marian L. Poisson-Jenkins, 91, Marquette, formerly of the Powers, MI area entered eternal life Friday morning, February 20, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Born August 15, 1923 in Nadeau, Michigan, she was the oldest daughter of Joseph and Amelia (Hupy) Mottard.
Marian loved her family and her Catholic faith. She was never more satisfied then when attending Mass, and spending time with her twelve children and extended family.
She was an accomplished hair professional who owned several salons and served as the President of the Michigan Cosmetology Association. Midlife, she took a completely different direction and quickly achieved the regional manager position with the young American Family Life Assurance Company (AFLAC). She won the Fireball Award for sales in her first year, and that term describes how Marian was in all aspects of her life.
Marian is survived by her five daughters Linda Williams (Martin Williams), Louanne Poisson, Loretta Poisson (Omar Abdel Samie), Laureen Poisson (Scott Denzer) and Lana Poisson; and three sons Leslie Poisson, Leonard Poisson and Louis Poisson, Jr.; her sisters Donna Bellefieul (John Bellefieul) and Vivian Storey (Gordon Storey); her brother Patrick Mottard; her six step-children from her marriage to Gerald Jenkins, and many admiring nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marian is predeceased by her first husband Louis Joseph Poisson and her second husband Gerald Jenkins; her sons Larry Poisson, Lee Poisson, and Loren Poisson; and her daughter Lisa Poisson.
Friends may call at the Bishop's Room located at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette, MI on Wednesday February 25, 2015 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the cathedral at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday with Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber, pastor, as celebrant. A reception will follow Mass in the Cathedral Hall. Burial will take place in the Spalding Township Cemetery in the spring. The Allo Coolman Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Spalding are serving the family.
