Mary R. Stoykovich, 92, Wells, passed away on Thursday March 10, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born on May 31, 1923 in Escanaba, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (LaFave) Rudden. On January 9, 1943 she married the late Frank Stoykovich at St. Patrick's Church in Escanaba.
Mary worked as a noon hour supervisor for the Escanaba Public Schools until her retirement at the age of 73. She was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross for over 40 years, an active member of the VFW for 45 years holding many different positions there, an Eagles member for over 40 years and the UAW retirees. Mary enjoyed going to her family's camp and cottage, traveling, taking pictures, being busy in general, and mostly being around her grandchildren.
She is survived by six children: Gayle Stoykovich, Pat (James) Beauchamp, Frank Stoykovich, John (Connie) Stoykovich, Steve (Lori) Stoykovich and Tom (Michelle) Stoykovich, one sister: Theresa (Ralph) Krause, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister: Zita Bednasz, four brothers: Jack, Mike, Pat and Glen Rudden and a great-granddaughter: Lauren Beauchamp.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday March 14, 2016 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba with parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Tuesday March 15, 2016 at St. Anthony of Padua in Wells with Fr. Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will follow Mass in the church parish hall. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery in the spring.
