Melissa "Mel" A. Denzer, 33, Vulcan, MI, passed away suddenly on Thursday June 6, 2019. She was born on November 12, 1985 in Marquette, MI, daughter of Scott and Laureen (Poisson) Denzer.
Mel graduated from North Central Area High School and went on to Ferris State University and Northern Michigan University where she obtained her Bachelors degree. She always had a strong passion for animals and was committed to helping animals in distress and never gave up on them. Her pride and joy were her two dogs: Cash and Dennis. Mel was an artistic soul who put her creativity into crocheting and dream catchers among many other things. She had a green thumb and was an excellent gardener. Mel suffered with chronic pain for many years and finally found her peace.
She is survived by her parents: Laureen Poisson and Scott Denzer, sister: Kristin Denzer, niece and nephew: Taylor and Trey Blair, grandparents: Merle and Darlene Denzer, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Melissa was preceded in death by her sister: Jessica Denzer.
Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. (CST) on Friday June 14, 2019 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding. A celebration of her life will follow visitation at 11:30 a.m. (CST) on Friday at the funeral home with family members speaking about Melissa. Burial will take place in the Spalding Township Cemetery.

"I am so sorry to hear the news. I have known Mel for many years and she was usually a cheerful person who was always looking for a hidden joke. A lot of times she would ride the bus in the seat behind me just so we could chat. It is with great sorrow that I remember this, and think, I wish she would have called me and maybe,just maybe I could have helped her out. It brings a tear to my eyes thinking of what drove her to do such a drastic thing, but I hope she is in her peaceful place. The family has my thoughts and prayers."
